Cricket 4 Milestones FOREWORD

The frequency with which international cricket matches are being played these says if seems a matter of time for the records to be broken. We are not sure for how long ’s records of highest Test Centuries or aggregate will stand. But it’s a fantastic idea to put together the records of the first timers because that’s never going to change.

Obviously Sachin Tendulkar will always be mentioned as the first batsman to score 12,000 runs in , will remain the first bowler to claim 700 test and I will be holding the honour of being the first bowler to capture 500 wickets in One-day Internationals.

Quality books on cricket have been coming thick and fast in some other countries and it’s a pleasure to note that the same is now happening in Pakistan also. I hope that our authors, writers, journalists, historians and statisticians will put in even stronger effort in future to bring to light the accomplishments of out great cricketers.

Cricket is the most popular game of the country and I know there are a lot people, particularly youngsters, who are passionate about reading about the game. Then there a section of cricket followers who are crazy about the statistical aspects of the game. So the local publishers have an area to work on with greater zeal.

Meanwhile I would like to commend Shahzad Ali Khan, seasoned statistician, for having compiled this handy and unique 100- page book by the titled of ‘Cricket Milestones’ under the supervisions of senior journalists Ehsan Qureshi and Syed Khalid Mahmood.

Cricket 99 Milestones The Compiler

Shahzad Ali Khan has carved a niche for himself in the field of compilation of Cricket records. Having done a lot of research work over the year he remains on the lookout for the missing parts in the statistics besides updating the regular records. His search for the missing records has networked him with the leading cricket statisticians of the world.

Unlike the majority of the other cricket statisticians, he remains focused on the often ignored aspects of the game. He runs from pillar to post to gather the minutes of details of every game basically due to his passion for the game.

Born in Karachi on July 28, 1961, he has had a love affair with the game of cricket for over three decades now. He vividly recalls that century on debut by during the 1976-77 season that inspired him to collect cricket records.

A post graduate in Economics from the university of Karachi, he has been more fascinated by the statistical part of Cricket prompting him to raise a huge collection of books, magazines and annuals from all over the world.

He had started contributing statistical pieces to the various magazines in the 1980s while his first book The Liliana Book of the World Cup Cricket Records 1975-92 was established in 1993. He was the co- compiler of book titled Pakistan in One-day Internationals.

He has been an active member of the Pakistan Associations of Cricket Statisticians and Scorers (PACSS) and the Associations of Cricket Statisticians and Scorers in India (ACSSI).
