13.30-14.45 Fringe: Electoral agreements with other parties – how can cooperation work successfully at local elections? Matthew Ledbury, Oxfordshire Green Party, Chair of Oxfordshire Green Party's Elections Committee Local electoral agreements with other parties have been increasingly tried as a way of getting round the unfairness of the first-past-the-post voting system and ensuring that Greens stand a good chance of being elected. Representatives from three local parties that have gained councillors as a result of successful cooperation with other political parties will outline what they have learned and how they made such agreements work effectively. Speakers will include Cllr Robin Bennett of Oxfordshire Green Party; Cllr Andree Frieze of Richmond Green Party; and Cllr Steve Williams of Guildford & Waverley Green Party. The session will be an open discussion that aims to shares experiences. Members from other local parties where electoral cooperation has been considered or attempted, successfully or unsuccessfully, will be particularly welcome to give their views on what works and what doesn’t.

Fringe: Universal Basic Income - how to make it happen! Cllr Martin Osborne, Brighton & Hove Green Party This session will explore ways in which we could make UBI happen. It will be mainly looking at trials and inviting groups such as UBI Lab group who have pushed for trials in places such as Sheffield and Liverpool and are expanding into several other areas. Also, it would look at what the Green Party's proposals are for

Magid Magid, Sheffield Green Party Climate change is unfair - it was created by the privileged few, but will disproportionately hit disadvantaged groups the hardest and strongest. In addition, climate action is not always equitable and does not share its benefits fairly. Our response to climate change needs to be just and inclusive. Climate change is not solely an environmental issue, that’s why you can’t have climate justice without social justice. Climate change is inextricably linked to challenges of eradicating poverty and increasing inclusiveness. Come along to find out how we can ensure that the climate movement is as diverse as the challenges we face. Training: The membership journey, using CiviCRM and exciting members so they stick with us Culann Walsh, Membership Engagement Officer The membership team will host a session on using our digital systems to give members the best experience of the Green Party. We will cover the basics of CiviCRM, using Civimail and segmenting your lists between members and supporters, finding who wants to help with canvassing and leafleting and breaking your members down ward-by-ward. We will also speak about best practice in welcoming new members, communicating with members going into grace, run through how the membership team communicate with these members and what is expected of you as a local party officer.

Fringe: Standing Together with Gypsy, Roma and Travellers Sam Alston, Richmond & Twickenham Green Party A session focusing on understanding the situation of the Gypsy Roma Traveller community led by Chelsea McDonagh, Policy and Campaigns Officer for the Traveller Movement. It will be chaired by former Green MEP and Brighton Mayor Alexandra Phillips. The GRT communities face distinctive challenges and deep rooted discrimination. This session will look at the issues and how Greens can do to show solidarity and support.

It will outline how mediation is distinct from other practices such as judicial processes, arbitration and conciliation. Fringe: Localism agenda: Greens in power transforming towns Ewan Jones, Central & South East Somerset Green Party, AGC Town & Parish Council Representative The 'Age of Austerity' from 2010 has increased the importance of Town & Parish democracy – filling the gaps cut through higher Council tiers. Brexit and the December 12 General Election have recognised Towns as strongly contested political geography, particularly owing to Labour Party failure outside Cities. This session will celebrate what Greens in Power are already achieving to transform Towns across the country – and encourage Green Party Members to put themselves forward as part of the local solution to Britain's democratic deficit.

Join us if you want to start an ACE group or share your experience with others.

Fringe: Young Greens housing campaign launch Thomas Hazell, Blackwater Valley Green Party, Co-chair of the Young Greens. Conference fringe led by Young Greens’ campaigns officer and 2019 Hackney South general election candidate Tyrone Scott, who will launch our campaign for young private renters. We will outline the campaign and how you can support our fight for housing justice. We will call for campaign aims [eg renter’s unions]. London Young Greens will outline their ‘London Renters Rights’ campaign, which has called for ‘ideas to empower and inform’ London’s young renters - for example, by hosting a ‘housing hackathon’.
