Whilst I am sad to finally relinquish the reins I do so in the knowledge that Wexford Chamber is now in a stronger and more stable position than at any time in its recent history. At my inauguration in January 2014 I made a commitment to make Wexford Chamber a stronger and a “Relevant and Inclusive” organisation. As I now step down as President I can be happy in the knowledge that I have been part of some of the most seminal moments in Wexford Chamber history. Throughout my two year term we have achieved much: i Our financial stability has been secured due to the imposition of a solid financial template ensuring prudent cost control combined with maximising funds income through diversification of activities. The days of trading deficits are over and we look forward, as do many of our members, to a brighter trading future. i Our status as a Chamber of influence and pro-activity has achieved truly staggering heights. We have been acknowledged for our excellence at both local and importantly national level by organisations such as Chambers Ireland, The Central Bank of Ireland, Government Departments and Ministers, The American Embassy and AmCham, IDA Ireland, Retail Excellence Ireland and Wexford County Council to name but a few. i Our signature events, The Wexford Business Awards, The Wexford Business Expo and our Wexford Style Fashion Show have achieved unprecedented success and are now sell out occasions and some of the most sought after tickets in the Wexford business and social calendar. These events have ensured that our strength, professionalism and ability to deliver are showcased to the maximum. Indeed it is said that the sincerest form of flattery is imitation and judging by the recent proliferation of such events I think my point is proven! i My quest to achieve a united force to represent retailing in Wexford has taken strong steps forward, albeit this work is still in its infancy. However with key local retailers on board together with a strong commitment from The Chamber, Retail Excellence Ireland and Wexford County Council I am confident there is a bright future ahead. An area requiring a strong focus from our incoming President, perhaps? i From an internal perspective we undertook a root and branch review of our operations. It became very obvious that our Chamber was growing and progressing at an unprecedented rate. To facilitate this and to allow us to move forward in a challenging environment we appointed an independent HR consultant to work with the Chamber team to build a strong customer centric ethos and to give them the tools necessary to manage the significant change agenda that was taking place within the organisation. i Throughout my term I have worked very closely with Madeleine our CEO. During the many meetings and strategy sessions it became very obvious to us both that our Chamber now required a professional and cutting edge business resource facility from which to operate. We agreed that this new facility/premises should reflect a progressive Chamber representing a diverse, successful and progressive Wexford Business Community and afford our members the opportunity to fully embrace our success and indeed benefit from it. Working closely wexfordchamber.ie WEXFORD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 5 ANNUAL REPORT 2015 with Wexford County Council, our landlord, we secured agreement and support to upgrade and expand our base at Hill Street and extend our lease thereby achieving security of tenure for the foreseeable future. Subsequently through a focused and prudent campaign we secured the necessary financial support to complete this project from a group of valued members who share our vision. I am happy to say that our new premises will officially open in December 2015. A true landmark event in the 180 year history of Wexford Chamber. Watch this space! In closing I must pay tribute to the “Real” leader and powerhouse of Wexford Chamber, our CEO Madeleine Quirke. As a former President and now CEO, Madeleine has given an extraordinary level of commitment to Wexford Chamber. Whilst the role of President is transitory, the day to day responsibilities of leadership, professionalism and operational excellence rest firmly with our CEO. In Madeleine I can say without fear of contradiction, we have a true gem. I have enjoyed every moment of my presidency secure in the knowledge that Madeleine would always have my back. The provision of such a “safety net” to a level above and beyond the call of duty does indeed contribute to an enjoyable and productive presidency. To my board thank you for your support, your guidance and your commitment to what I truly believe is a wonderful organisation. To our support team Tracey, Katie, Catherine, Geraldine, Abi, Denise, David & Bryce thank you one and all for all that you do every day for the Chamber. I would like to wish all of our members, and indeed all Wexford businesses the very best for 2016 and beyond. Let us continue to work together to ensure that Wexford remains THE place to do business in the South East. As a “local lad” it has been an honour to be your President for the last two years. My intention was always to bring both the Chamber and the Presidency into the limelight and to the forefront of the Wexford Business psyche. I would like to think that in some small way I have achieved this. I believe that Wexford Chamber is now an organisation that commands respect, influences both policy and key decision makers and succeeds in effecting real change for the betterment of Wexford. Loch Garman Abu! Yours in business, Martin J Doyle President Wexford Chamber wexfordchamber.ie 6 WEXFORD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNUAL REPORT 2015 Message from the Chief Executive Wexford County Council During 2015 we have started to see some positive signs of improvements in the local economy; new retailers have taken up vacant premises in Wexford Town, new companies have chosen Wexford as a place to locate, the hospitality sector performed strongly, many existing businesses are taking on more staff and major infrastructure projects such as the provision of piped natural gas and significant improvements to the national road network are making Wexford a more attractive place to do

Email: [email protected] Phone: 053 9259821 Email: [email protected] Phone: 053 9421374 Dear Service Provider “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People is a National directive whose aim is to provide one clear pathway to services for all children and young people with a disability, focusing on the needs of the child/young person and their family”. As part of this directive the HSE formed a Local Implementation Group comprising of HSE personnel involved in the delivery of Paediatric Services. Parent, Department of Education and Section 39 Voluntary agency representatives will also become involved in this process as we move forward. While reviewing current service provision it became apparent that there was a lack of awareness of all the support services that are available for children and their parents in the Wexford area. In order to address this deficit we have put together the attached directory of local supports both Voluntary and HSE run in County Wexford. This directory includes: Parenting Programmes Advocacy Groups Mother and Toddler Groups National Disability Organisations This list while comprehensive is not an exhaustive therefore we would appreciate it if you could inform us of any new developments or groups which may not have been included. We would be grateful if you could distribute this directory to any group or parent whom you feel would benefit from the information. It has been led by the EPA, with input from Local Authorities and other public bodies, and with support from RPS consultants. The characterisation assessments are automatically generated from the information stored in the WFD Application. They are based on information available to the end of 2015 but may be subject to change until the final 2018-21 river basin management plan is published. Users should ensure that they have the most up to date information by downloading the latest assessment before use. 2 Evaluation of PrioritySubcatchment Issues Three of the eight river waterbodies, Aughnaboy_010, Cahore Canal_010 and Blackwater Wexford_010 are At Risk. Ecological status at two of the river waterbodies (Aughnaboy_010 and Blackwater Wexford_010) declined in the 2013- 2015 WFD monitoring cycle cycle. Phosphate and Ammonia are elevated in all three At Risk waterbodies. On Aughnaboy_010 and Cahore Canal_010 he significant pressures are agriculture (both point and diffuse sources) and septic tanks. Wastewater discharge from unfinished housing estates is also a pressure on Aughnaboy_010. On Blackwater Wexford_010 the significant pressures are diffuse urban, wastewater and hydromorphology. The remaining five RWBs are unassigned due to a lack of monitoring data and were revised to review pending determination of the water quality by Wexford County Council. An unmonitored lake, Kilmacoe, was revised to Not at Risk due to the lack of pressures inputting to the lake.

  • The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers
THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.

About This Place – Kilmuckridge A Project by Michael Fortune Below are the notes from the Google Map produced by Michael Fortune between June and November 2015. The Google Map features over 130 sites from around the village. This is a living resource and this is a living document. Please contact Michael if you have any more sites to add, or information to change. Let the conversation begin. Michael by phone on 087 6470247 or by email [email protected] ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Proposed Airfield Ned Kavanagh told me that this long, flat stretch of land was earmarked as an airfield for Major Brian who owned Upton House. One of his family members flew and this would have been a direct way to bring clients to Upton House in its day. Any further information on this appreciated. 52.52959, -6.22099 © Information by Michael Fortune, 2015. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Raheen - Ballywater A fine example of a raheen (ringfort). It has been cleared somewhat but the outline is still clear. In the mid- 19th century a farm once stood very close by. The small fields were let into one big field towards the latter part of the 20th century. It's quite a big raheen in comparison to the other ones close by. 52.53607, -6.24765 © Information by Michael Fortune, 2015. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Raheen - Ballinoulart A fine example of a raheen (ringfort). This raheen is interesting as in the old OSI maps we see it had a square perimeter around a rough circle. It is generally accepted that Norman enclosures, of which there are many in the area, were square/rectangle in shape, while the Irish ones were circular.
