Introduction The Italian Ministry for the Environment provides financial support to academia (Italian Botanical Society – SBI and Italian Zoological Union – UZI) for the implementation of the MAES process in Italy. A preliminary collection of updated and detailed basic data at the national level was carried out, including ecoregions, land units, bioclimate, biogeography, potential natural vegetation and CORINE land cover at the fourth level. Starting from these data, the Italian MAES process has been organised into six steps. The outcomes of this process have provided the Ministry for the Environment with a reliable body of information targeted to: - an effective implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy (MATTM 2010); - the improvement in biodiversity data within the National Biodiversity Network (Martellos et al. 2011); - the further development of the environmental accounting system (Capotorti et al. 2012b); - the implementation of a road-map to be delivered to the regions (sub-national level); - the effective use of the products of all MAES process to concretely support European structural and investment funds 2014-2020 through the Joint Committee on Biodiversity, the governing body of the Italian National Strategy (Capotorti et al., 2015). -

The country house in English women's poetry 1650-1750: genre, power and identity Sharon L. Young A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the University’s requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy 2015 University of Worcester Abstract The country house in English women’s poetry 1650-1750: power, identity and genre This thesis examines the depiction of the country estate in English women’s poetry, 1650-1750. The poems discussed belong to the country house genre, work with or adapt its conventions and tropes, or belong to what may be categorised as sub-genres of the country house poem. The country house estate was the power base of the early modern world, authorizing social status, validating political power and providing an economic dominance for the ruling elite. This thesis argues that the depiction of the country estate was especially pertinent for a range of female poets. Despite the suggestive scholarship on landscape and place and the emerging field of early modern women’s literary studies and an extensive body of critical work on the country house poem, there have been to date no substantial accounts of the role of the country estate in women’s verse of this period. In response, this thesis has three main aims. Firstly, to map out the contours of women’s country house poetry – taking full account of the chronological scope, thematic and formal diversity of the texts, and the social and geographic range of the poets using the genre. Secondly, to interrogate the formal and thematic characteristics of women’s country house poetry, looking at the appropriation and adaptation of the genre. -

IAERE Elections The Elections took place within the 2015 General Assembly of members, on February 20th, 11.30 am, in Padova, in the same location where the Third IAERE Annual Conference was held. Three new Council members were elected: Simone Borghesi, who will be a Council member from 2016 to 2021 (20162017 as President Elect, 20182019 as President, and 20202021 as Past President), and Silvana Dalmazzone and Giovanni Marin, who will be Ordinary Members of the Council from 2016 to 2019. IAERE Third Annual Conference The Third Annual Conference of the Italian Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (IAERE), hosted by the Department of Economics and Management – University of Padova ( 2021 February, 2015) has been successful in attracting a large number of Italian and foreign scholars, with a wide range of research interests. The unprecedented large number of abstracts submitted for the meeting indicates the increasing interest of our community in IAERE conferences. The final program included 56 presentations over 12 parallel sessions, with a good mix of theoretical models and empirical studies. -

L. Rogan The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2015 Under the Supervision of Professor Tanya Tiffany Portrait artist to popes, royalty, and nobility, Pompeo Batoni was hailed as the premier portrait painter in Rome during his career in the mid to late eighteenth century. Batoni’s reputation as the de rigueur portraitist amongst wealthy British Grand Tourists was solidified by the late 1750s, and he dominated this market until his death in 1787. This thesis will examine the different types of fashion displayed in Batoni’s Grand Tour portraits, and argue that many of the Georgian men depicted paid great attention to their dress and how it augmented their self-fashioned identities.
