These categories are defined in Table 1. Any species identified as Threatened under the WC Act is assigned a threat category using the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List categories and criteria. Species that have not yet been adequately surveyed to warrant being listed under Schedule 1 or 2 are added to the Priority Flora or Fauna Lists under Priority 1, 2 or 3. Species that are adequately known, are rare but not threatened, or meet criteria for Near Threatened, or that have been recently removed from the threatened list for other than taxonomic reasons, are placed in Priority 4 and require regular monitoring. Conservation Dependent species and ecological communities are placed in Priority 5. -
Customer Service Advice from Foxtel
CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVICE FROM FOXTEL Extreme Weather events impact service in the Northern Tablelands District and parts of the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains Districts of New South Wales and part of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt District of Queensland. As previously notified by Foxtel on Friday 20 January 2017, Foxtel’s normal operations in the Northern Tablelands District and parts of the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains Districts of New South Wales and part of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt District of Queensland were affected by a series of extreme weather events on or about Thursday 12 January 2017 through to Sunday 15 January 2017. The network used to deliver Foxtel’s services in these areas has experienced high levels of damage that resulted in delays to installation and repair activities on a significant number of Foxtel services. Due to the extent of damage to the network used to deliver Foxtel’s telecommunications services, the impact in the effected region has been greater than initially estimated, and as a consequence of the continued weather effects, the expected recovery date has now been extended to 2 April 2017. Foxtel has identified that the effect of these circumstances applies to approximately 465 services. This number may increase as Foxtel assesses the full effect of the severe weather conditions. Based on current information, the resumption date of normal service operations is expected to be 2 April 2017. This date is indicative only, and Foxtel customers should anticipate that some further delays may occur. -

The Pharmacological and Therapeutic Importance of Eucalyptus Species Grown in Iraq
IOSR Journal Of Pharmacy www.iosrphr.org (e)-ISSN: 2250-3013, (p)-ISSN: 2319-4219 Volume 7, Issue 3 Version.1 (March 2017), PP. 72-91 The pharmacological and therapeutic importance of Eucalyptus species grown in Iraq Prof Dr Ali Esmail Al-Snafi Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, Thi qar University, Iraq Abstract:- Eucalyptus species grown in Iraq were included Eucalyptus bicolor (Syn: Eucalyptus largiflorens), Eucalyptus griffithsii, Eucalyptus camaldulensis (Syn: Eucalyptus rostrata) Eucalyptus incrassate, Eucalyptus torquata and Eucalyptus microtheca (Syn: Eucalyptus coolabahs). Eucalypts contained volatile oils which occurred in many parts of the plant, depending on the species, but in the leaves that oils were most plentiful. The main constituent of the volatile oil derived from fresh leaves of Eucalyptus species was 1,8-cineole. The reported content of 1,8-cineole varies for 54-95%. The most common constituents co-occurring with 1,8- cineole were limonene, α-terpineol, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, globulol and α , β and ϒ-eudesmol, and aromatic constituents. The pharmacological studies revealed that Eucalypts possessed gastrointestinal, antiinflammatory, analgesic, antidiabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, insecticidal, repellent, oral and dental, dermatological, nasal and many other effects. The current review highlights the chemical constituents and pharmacological and therapeutic activities of Eucalyptus species grown in Iraq. It is getting popularized in developing and developed countries owing to its natural origin and lesser side effects. Plants are a valuable source of a wide range of secondary metabolites, which are used as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, flavours, fragrances, colours, biopesticides and food additives [1-50]. -

Shrubs Shrubs 86 87 biibaya Broom bush Language name biibaya (yuwaalaraay) Scientific name Melaleuca uncinata Plant location Shrubs The biibaya (Broom Bush) is widespread through mallee, woodland and forest in the western part of the Border Rivers and Gwydir catchments. It often grows on sandy soils. Plant description The biibaya is an upright shrub with many stems growing from the main trunk. It grows between 1 to 3 metres high. The bark on older stems is papery. It has long, thin leaves which look like the bristles on a broom. Many fruit join together in a cluster which looks like a globe. Traditional use Can you guess what this plant was used for from its common name? The stems and girran.girraa (leaves) of the biibaya provided a useful broom. Bungun (branches) can also be cut and dried for use in brush fences. Paperbark trees (plants belonging to the genus Melaleuca) had many other uses also. The papery nganda (bark) was used to wrap meat for cooking and as plates, as well as being used as bandages, raincoats, shelter, blankets, twine and many other things. The nectar from the gurayn (flowers) could be eaten or drunk, steeped in water, as a sweet drink. Crushing the girran.girraa provides oil. Young girran.girraa can be chewed, or pounded and mixed with water, to treat colds, respiratory complaints and headaches. This mixture was also used as a general tonic. Inhaling the steam from boiling or burning the leaves provides relief from cold, flu and sinusitis (Howell 1983, Stewart & Percival 1997). The gurayn were also used for decoration. -

Influence of leaf chemistry on dietary choice and habitat quality of koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) populations in southwest Queensland Huiying Wu Master of Science A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Queensland in 2017 School of Earth and Environmental Sciences Abstract Protecting high quality habitat is an important wildlife conservation action. Spatial and temporal variation in habitat quality in heterogeneous landscapes influences habitat use and population persistence. Populations living at the margins of species’ geographic ranges are particularly sensitive to fluctuations in habitat quality, especially if species occupy narrow ecological niches. For arboreal folivores, foliar chemical composition is a key factor influencing habitat quality. To understand the spatial and temporal dynamics of foliar chemistry and hence the habitat quality for an arboreal folivore species, I applied theories and methods from chemical ecology, nutritional ecology and landscape ecology to understand foliar chemical/folivore interactions in a seasonally changing environment. I used populations of koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus) in two semi-arid regions of Queensland, Australia, as a case study. Koalas are specialist folivores with complex feeding behaviour from Eucalyptus species. My aim was to identify the influence of foliar chemicals (moisture content, digestible nitrogen (DigN) and a toxin formylated phloroglucinol compounds (FPC) concentrations) and associated environmental factors on koala habitat use -

South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity, Grahamstown, South Africa The Australian Society for Fish Biology had as its inception early meetings organised by the ichthyological staff of the Australian Museum and New South Fisheries intended as a mechanism for sharing advances in fish related science and the development of Underwater video techniques have progressed rapidly over the past ten years, and are now used in a diverse range of habitats initiatives leading to the better understanding of the diversity and biology of Australia’s ichthyofauna. Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available. For more information please see: www.environment.gov.au/heritage/anhat/index.html Limitations • ANHAT currently contains information on the distribution of over 30,000 Australian taxa. This includes all mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs and fish, 137 families of vascular plants (over 15,000 species) and a range of invertebrate groups.
