Wasabi for Consumers & Small Businesses Wasabi for Consumers & Small Businesses Low-cost cloud file storage and data protection Tech Note: Wasabi for Consumer & Small Businesses Executive Overview Wasabi is fundamentally transforming cloud storage with hot storage—the corporate world’s most affordable cloud storage solution. While primarily used by businesses, many tech-savvy consumers use Wasabi hot storage in conjunction with third-party file management and data protection applications to backup PCs and Macs, and to share photos, videos and documents. This tech brief provides a short overview of Wasabi and explains some of the differences between Wasabi hot storage and popular personal cloud storage products like Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Amazon Drive, as well as personal backup products like Carbonite, Mozy, CrashPlan and Backblaze. Introducing Wasabi Hot Storage Wasabi’s mission is to make cloud storage a simple, open-standard commodity and utility, just like electricity. Wasabi hot storage is cost-effective, fast and reliable cloud storage—for any purpose. Wasabi is significantly less expensive and significantly faster than other corporate cloud storage services like Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure. In fact, Wasabi hot storage is so inexpensive many individuals and small businesses use it as well. You can use Wasabi to protect your data and to store files in the cloud—conveniently and reliably. With Wasabi, you can take full advantage of the same fast and dependable cloud storage service that large corporations rely on, and depending on your use, Wasabi could cost less than a personal cloud storage service like Dropbox or other consumer-focused storage services. Most personal cloud storage products are priced by capacity. You pay a fixed fee for a full terabyte (or more) of storage every month whether you use it or not. For example, Dropbox and Google Drive charge $9.99 per month to store up to 1 TB of data, while Microsoft charges $6.99 per month to store up to 1 TB of data on OneDrive. With Wasabi you only pay for the storage you actually use. Wasabi hot storage costs just $.0039/GB/month (or $3.99 per TB per month). In addition, as with other corporate cloud storage services, we charge a separate fee ($.04/GB) every time you retrieve data from the cloud.1 Depending on how much data you store in the cloud, and how frequently you download it, Wasabi could end up costing less than a personal cloud storage service like Dropbox.
