WHAT'S NEW New Improved Fixed Removed Known Issues VERSION 3.0.6 This maintenance release lets you open databases and smart groups in a new window on iPad and create new groups by grouping a single selected item. Markdown files generated by clipping now match those created by DEVONthink for Mac. The update also makes verifying and repairing databases smarter and more reliable, fixing, e.g., sync timeouts caused by integrity checks. It also fixes unnecessary notifications when previews couldn't be generated by Quick Look during a sync. Databases and smart groups can be opened in a new window from the context menu. Single items can be grouped for quickly creating new groups containing the selected item. Markdown files generated by Clip to DEVONthink now match those generated by DEVONthink for Mac. The Verify & Repair context menu command fixes also issues related to the internal parent- child structures affecting, e.g., item counting; previously only the "fix" URL command addressed these problems. Checking and repairing special records like Inbox, Tags, and Trash is more robust too. Smarter automatic verifying and repairing; shortens the sync start-up time, causes fewer timeouts when synchronizing via Bonjour, and makes synchronizing large data stores in the background more robust. The regular check for duplicates no longer does a full check for duplicate UUIDs. This saves battery power and causes fewer terminations by iOS in the background. DEVONthink To Go 3.0.6 Documentation, page 4 Sync — Special groups like Annotations can bet set to be always downloaded in a shallow sync scenario. Sync — The sync log is available via the Finder or the "On My Device" area in the Files app. Sync — Less frequent automatic sync attempts in case of issues blocking the synchronization (e.g. a busy or read-only database). Sync — Improved overall reliability. DEVONthink To Go's Documents folder appeared as "DEVONthink Sync" in the Files app. Fixed. Encrypted PDFs showed an empty thumbnail because no thumbnail could be generated. Fixed. Long-pressing a bookmark with empty URL crashed the app. Fixed. Rebuilding the index showed a confusing notification about clearing the Spotlight index. Fixed. Correcting file name extension when adding contents could crash the app. Fixed. The context menu for encrypted PDFs showed the Create Thumbnail command but shouldn't. Fixed. The details shown for encrypted PDFs were garbled. Fixed. When previews couldn't be generated by QuickLook during a sync, a notification was shown but shouldn't. Fixed. With a broken database structure the destination selector could crash the app. Fixed. Sync — Dropbox timeouts caused unnecessary log messages after, e.g., waking the device. Fixed. Sync — Bonjour syncs could crash the app on rare occasions. Fixed. VERSION 3.0.5 This maintenance release adds QuickLook support for unknown file types and new context menu commands for creating and removing thumbnails. You can stop syncs or sync store verifications. The update also improves navigation speed, Markdown preprocessing performance, and the integrity checks, e.g., before a sync. Optimized background processing uses less battery power. Other changes improve the reliability and stability, and fix bugs. QuickLook is used also for unknown file types if possible. New context menu commands for creating and removing thumbnails. Faster navigating into and between groups. Faster Markdown preprocessing. Faster retrieving of thumbnails for documents. Faster and improved checking for empty files in Verify & Repair and before a sync; fewer redundant checks. DEVONthink To Go 3.0.6 Documentation, page 5 Background activity optimized. The CPU-intensive preview generation and Spotlight indexing tasks are handled smarter and no longer block other activity from accessing the database. This makes using the app faster and reduces battery power consumption. The titles of unread items now use a bold font to stand out. The human-readable kind of documents shows the content file's file name extension if it is not the default extension for the type. For unknown types a human-readable name is shown if one is available from the system (iOS 14 or later). Smart groups honor the Keep Groups on Top setting. When a hardware keyboard is attached, the PIN entry no longer shows the on-screen keyboard (requires iOS 14 or later). Feedback email is created in the default email client if Mail is not configured. Clip to DEVONthink now checks MIME types for URLs to improve clipping options. When moving an item to another database where it already exists with the same unique identifier, a notification is now shown in addition to replicating. More reliable item counting; items are also counted when a sync is active. PDF library updated. Sync — Syncs or sync store verifications can be cancelled. Sync — The progress bar in the sync status sheet is more accurate. Sync — Shallowly synced and not yet downloaded items are marked as not available in the Files app. Sync — Files downloaded from sync stores are checked for consistency. Sync — The automatic sync uses less energy by polling less frequently, relying more on push notifications. Sync — Improved handling of rate limiting when downloading data from iCloud (CloudKit) sync locations, e.g., importing or thoroughly verifying databases. Accessibility labels for groups and documents were always 'null' and so unsuable. Also, the labels were not correctly set after launching the app. Fixed. Annotations to bookmarks were not correctly linked after synching to the Mac. Database and smart groups names could appear greyed out even if they are accessible. Fixed. Global smart groups could appear as inactive but never should. Fixed. Groups excluded from tagging appeared as regular groups inside the Tags groups. Fixed. Locally referenced images in Markdown documents didn't render when viewed from inside a tag. Fixed. RTF documents converted to RTFD during a sync, e.g., by adding images to them on another device, could let the documents appear as inaccessible (the actual documents where always intact). Fixed. Scrolling long lists of items with custom icons or unknown file types could stutter. Fixed. Size calculations for package-based document formats, e.g., RTFD, where incorrect. Fixed. DEVONthink To Go 3.0.6 Documentation, page 6 Some groups could be purged even though they shouldn't. Fixed. Switching view options could potentially freeze the app. Fixed. Tags couldn't be edited in Clip to DEVONthink on iPad in landscape orientation and with the software keyboard. Fixed. The cancel button for the progress display used the wrong image and had no left padding. Fixed. The date field in the log clipped longer dates. Fixed. The New Document Assistant was dismissed after switching to another app and back with security enabled. Fixed. The passcode security didn't work after unlocking it once. Fixed. The Spotlight indexing tasks could create many threads and cause the app being killed by the system. Fixed. The type identifier of documents of a type unknown to iOS could change after downloading the documents but shouldn't in all cases. Fixed. Thumbnails for text documents and sheets were generated white-on-black in dark mode. Fixed. Updating list view cells that are no longer on screen could consume a lot of battery power. Fixed. When editing existing sync locations the entered sync store name was not filled into the form. Fixed. When quickly switching apps, the security overlay got stuck without asking for the PIN or biometric authentication. Fixed. With inboxes unified, the context menu for the Global Inbox didn't show Verify & Repair as option.
