The SERVANT--an old man--is standing in the background. 1st Prince: Here, Gillie, will you please take off my shoe and see what there is in it that is pressing on my heel. Servant: (Taking it off and examining it.) I see nothing. 1st Prince: Oh, yes, there is something; I have felt it all the morning. I have been thinking this long time of taking the shoe off, but I waited for you.     BAGNALL, JAMES “JIM” DOUGLAS, business owner; b. 15 February 1949 in Summerside, son of Harold Bagnall and Charlotte Muirhead; m. 16 September 1967 Eileen Craig of Victoria, and they have four children, Douglas Kent, Craig James, Tara Lee and Tanya; Presbyterian. Bagnall, a Progressive Conservative, was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in the 18 November 1996 general election for District 3 Montague‐Kilmuir. He was re‐elected in the general elections of 17 April 2000, 29 September 2003 and 28 May 2007. Bagnall retired undefeated from provincial politics prior to the 3 October 2011 general election. On 27 March 2006 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture. Prior to his Cabinet appointment he served as Government Whip, Government House Leader, and chair of Government Caucus. He has also served as chair of the legislative review committee and as a member of the standing committees on agriculture, environment, energy and forestry; community and intergovernmental affairs; education and innovation; fisheries, transportation and rural development; health, social development and seniors; legislative management; privileges, rules and private bills; and Public Accounts. Bagnall served as interim leader of the opposition from 9 June to 2 October 2010. During his time in opposition he also worked as Opposition House Leader and opposition critic for the Provincial Treasury, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, tourism, environment and forestry. Bagnall attended primary school in Central Bedeque and graduated from Athena Regional High School in 1968. He went on to work in retail sales for more than 30 years, managing Stedman’s department store in Montague for a decade before purchasing it in 1985.

    Celebrating PEI’s Famous 5 Another Famous Five? Most of us know about, or have at least heard of, Canada’s Famous Five - the five Alberta women who were the petitioners in the Persons Case. That case was brought before the Supreme Court of Canada in 1927 and later decided in 1929 by the Judicial Council of Britain’s Privy Council. It deemed women as persons in the eyes of the law. The women - Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise Crummy McKinney and Irene Parlby - worked for many years in various campaigns, and gained national and international attention as advocates for women’s rights. But who are the women of Prince Edward Island’s Famous 5? Who Are the PEI Famous 5? In 1993, Her Honour Lieutenant Governor Marion L. Reid, Hon. Premier Catherine Callbeck, Leader of the Official Opposition Pat Mella, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island Nancy Guptill, and Deputy Leader of the Legislative Assembly Hon. Elizabeth ‘Libbe’ Hubley became known as PEI’s Famous 5. Left to right, Guptill, Reid, Mella, Callbeck, and Hubley, were seasoned political veterans, each having worked behind the scenes for their respective parties, and each having served in in the Legislative Assembly. They were the first – and to date only - women to simultaneously hold the top five positions of political influence in the province. Box 774, Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, C1A 7L3 Tel.: (902) 368-5895 Fax: (902) 368-6500 Government House Government House, also known as Fanningbank, is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, the personal representative in the province of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of Canada. In 1834 Government House was built with funds advanced through an issue of Treasury Notes to be repaid with monies raised for the purpose by an Assessment on Land. It cost, in the currency of the day, £3,142.17.3, and was intended to serve as a Vice-Regal residence for the Lieutenant Governors of the then British colony of Prince Edward Island. The architectural design of the house is Georgian, with echoes of the Palladian tradition, and was the work of Isaac Smith. The wooden building was constructed by the architect in association with Henry Smith and Nathan Wright, a firm of local builders. The main structure is 95 feet long by 65 feet wide with two wings at the rear of the residence measuring 28 feet long by 25 feet wide, under which was placed a full Island sandstone foundation, most of which still supports the residence. The sills are 15 inches square and the floor joists are 4 inches by 11 inches and are laid 18 inches from center to center.

Historický časopis, 2019, 67, 4, pp. 633-657, Bratislava. This study deals with life and activities of the last four Princes Collalto e San Salvatore who owned the Moravian family estates between 1854 and 1945. On the basis of preserved archive materials, it provides a bio- graphical overview of their lives, family situation and of their activities connected with Moravian estates during the end of Austria-Hungary, First Czechoslovak Republic and post-war Czechoslovakia. Among these four Collaltos, Emanuel Josef (1854–1924) is the central figure, though, to un- derstand the stagnation of the House of Collalto under its four last Princes, attention is also paid to Emanuel’s father Eduard and his two successors: Manfred and Octavian.
