The Honorable (R-TX) 404 Russell Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Cruz,

Thank you for your leadership in including in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act a provision to expand 529 college savings accounts to include K-12 tuion.

More than 70 organizaons represented on this leer reflect the broad and deep support for expanding American families’ access to educaon opons through 529 savings plans. If included in the final law, this will mark the first legislave expansion of naonwide private school choice in 20 years.

529 savings plans in their current form have been extremely popular; 13 million savings plans with assets totaling nearly $300 billion have been established to date. More than seventy-five percent of these savings plans are held by families with household incomes of $150,000 or less, illustrang the importance of tax-advantaged educaon savings to working-class and middle-income families.

Since the House and Senate versions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act both include provisions expanding 529 savings plans to elementary and secondary school tuion, we urge you to help ensure this important reform remains in the final version approved by Congress.

Respecully submied,
