Rove, Priebus, Comstock, Straus, Hutchison Join RSLC Board of Directors New members add critical support to committee’s ‘Right Lines 2020’ initiative to protect Republican legislative majorities ahead of the upcoming redistricting cycle WASHINGTON – The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) Board of Directors today announced new members of the board, including long-time Republican strategist Karl Rove, former Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, former Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, former Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, and former Nevada Lieutenant Governor Mark Hutchison. The RSLC also announced that it reelected Austin Chambers as president, and that Ward Baker will join the committee as a senior advisor, volunteering his time to help grow the committee. The announcements reaffirm the committee’s growing strength in this year’s all-important election cycle, with each member of the team providing critical support to the RSLC’s ‘Right Lines 2020’ initiative to protect Republican legislative majorities ahead of the decennial redrawing of federal and state district maps. “Our committee’s work has never been more important – and adding these great Republicans to our leadership team will prove invaluable to realizing our shared vision for victory this election cycle and for years to come,” said RSLC President Austin Chambers. “We have just one goal at the RSLC: winning. That means we need to have the brightest and most capable team in the country. I am grateful for each of our new leaders’ commitment to our mission. I am proud to fight alongside them.” “State Republicans in 2010 delivered sweeping gains that paved the way for conservative achievements at every level of government over the last decade,” said RSLC Chairman Bill McCollum. “We’re exceptionally proud of that feat and we’re excited to have a team that is strongly positioned to build on that success in what we know will be the toughest election cycle we’ll have ever faced. Our new board members’ unparalleled experience and passion for the conservative cause are just what we need to win this year and beyond.” “The Republican Party’s future and America’s direction hang in the balance this year – and the RSLC has a vital role to play in leading the fight to protect conservatives’ ability to win for the next decade,” said Karl Rove. “That’s why I’m all in. The RSLC’s work is too important to watch George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, and a cadre of billionaire lefties bankroll candidates for state and local office to advance the Democratic Party’s emerging socialist agenda that would transform our country. We must stop them. And we will.” Former Virginia Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (who also served in the Virginia General Assembly) added, “The RSLC is an invaluable resource for our party to grow Republican representation in state legislatures. I look forward to assisting with the committee’s robust efforts to recruit, train, and support a diverse group of candidates across the country. State legislatures are the laboratories of democracy and our state legislators provide and enact the dynamic and innovative ideas that improve our lives, reduce the cost of government, expand opportunity for all, and ensure economic freedom as the hallmark of our party.” “The RSLC has been very successful over the years helping support and create an environment for young leaders to gain and retain important state legislative and state judicial seats across the country,” said former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Additionally, RSLC’s work in judicial races across America have been an enormous value to our shared vision of a conservative court that respects the rule of law and the legal traditions that are cherished by us all. I am excited to be helpful to this cause.” In December 2019, the RSLC announced that former U.S. House Speakers Paul Ryan, John Boehner, and Newt Gingrich joined the committee to form and lead a Speakers Advisory Council that would provide critical support to the RSLC’s Right Lines 2020 initiative to protect Republican legislative majorities in the states. Earlier in 2019, the RSLC announced that former Republican National Committee (RNC) National Finance Chairman Amb. Ron Weiser (ret.) will serve as the organization’s national finance chairman for the 2019-2020 election cycle to spearhead the Right Lines 2020 effort.
