Appeal No. VA05/3/011 AN BINSE LUACHÁLA VALUATION TRIBUNAL AN tACHT LUACHÁLA, 2001 VALUATION ACT, 2001 Filmbridge Ltd. APPELLANT and Commissioner of Valuation RESPONDENT RE: Club House, Golf Driving Range, Sports Centre, Store at Lot No. 1AAb2AB/1, Rathmiles, Ballybrittas, Mountmellick, County Laois. B E F O R E Michael P.M. Connellan - Solicitor Deputy Chairperson Michael F. Lyng - Valuer Member Michael McWey - Valuer Member JUDGMENT OF THE VALUATION TRIBUNAL ISSUED ON THE 1ST DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2005 By Notice of Appeal dated the 9th day of July, 2005, the appellant appealed against the determination of the Commissioner of Valuation in fixing a rateable valuation of €1,980.00 on the above described relevant property. The Grounds of Appeal as set out in the Notice of Appeal are: "The rateable valuation is excessive having regard to the location, size and nature of the buildings, the level of business carried out therein and the tone of the list for other buildings of similar use in the Co. Laois area. There is also an issue with the calculation of the floor areas of the property by the Valuation Office (which has been mentioned at first appeal stage)." 2 The appeal proceeded by way of an oral hearing in the offices of the Tribunal, Ormond House, Ormond Quay Upper, Dublin 7 on the 26th day of September, 2005. At the hearing the appellant was represented by Mr. Conor Ó Cléirigh, M.R.I.C.S., A.S.C.S., F.I.A.V.I., and the respondent by Mr. Terry Fahey, a Valuer in the Valuation Office.

  • Old St. John Cemetery ~ Middletown, Connecticut Headstones Inscribed with the Place of Origin in Ireland
Old St. John Cemetery ~ Middletown, Connecticut Headstones Inscribed with the Place of Origin in Ireland St. John Church was built in 1844 for the growing Irish Catholic population. By 1850 the congregation had outgrown the small house of worship. Efforts to raise funds for a new church included an offer of burial plots to parishioners who donated $20.00 towards the building fund. All the plots were quickly taken and the cemetery was laid out on the north side of the church. In 1934, a list of headstone inscriptions for Middletown was copied under the auspices of F.E.R.A. and the W.P.A., sponsored by the Connecticut State Library, and compiled under the supervision of Charles R. Hale. The Headstone Inscriptions: Town of Middletown, Connecticut includes the complete transcriptions of the headstones in Old St. John Cemetery and are available on microfilm and hardcopy in the library’s local history collection (MIDDRM 974.66 HAL).
