Kids Now “#Lovethyselfiepledge” Campaign Hits Close to 100 Million Mark! Press Release Kids Now “#LoveThySelfiePledge” Campaign hits close to 100 million mark! TORONTO, ONTARIO, September 10th 2015. Canadian charity Kids Now (www.kidsnowcanada.org) has released the results of their #LoveThySelfiePledge social media campaign. The #LoveThySelfiePledge conducted in July 2015 and funded by State Farm® was an enormous success with almost 3000 selfies posted to Instagram and Twitter. The number of selfies have been matched with $1 donation each to Kids Now from State Farm® Canada. Some individuals even took it upon themselves to donate to Kids Now through their CanadaHelps profile or by texting “kidsnow” to 41010. “We’re excited about the #LoveThySelfiePledge and the youth Kids Now was able to reach through social media” said Zac Stevenson, Public Relations Advisor for State Farm. “Self-esteem plays a crucial role in our developing our youth and we’re happy we were able to support such an important message.” Campaign Highlights include: being delivered to over 98 million timelines a reach of more than 12.6 million an increase of 17% in Twitter followers and an increase of 532% in Instagram followers The success of the campaign was largely due to the kind assistance of a number of WWE stars such as Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Nattie Neidhart, Renee Young, Key Media influencers such as Colin Mochrie, Gerry Dee, Elisha Cuthbert, Cabbie Richards, Carla Collins, Gaby Henderson, Bif Naked, Degrassi stars Aislinn Paul & Ana Golja, and Social Networking Stars such as Lauren Toyota, Liz Trinnear, asapSCIENCE, Lisa Tant, Casie Stewart, Jessica Mulroney and so many, many more. The campaign focused on the development of self-compassion and a positive self-view. Participants were asked to take a selfie and post it to either Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook as a promise to treat themselves better and stop being their own biggest bully. The photos were unified through the use of the hashtag “#LoveThySelfiePledge” and participants spread the word by nominating three friends to take the pledge as well. About Kids Now Kids Now is a charitable organization that empowers grade seven and eight students in small groups through free, after school, in-school mentoring programs. Founded in 1999 and operating in various Canadian communities, Kids Now will help over 2,000 youth this year alone – and more with your help. Kids Now programs take place over 12 weekly sessions and focus on helping youth to develop confidence, self-compassion and an overall positive self-view as well as important goal setting, communication, decision-making and stress management skills. The programs are led by trained volunteers, and feature an educator-endorsed curriculum that included games, activities and group discussions.
