Simorangkir [email protected] • Fifth Season of North American Competition Begins • Three Women to Compete in 2017 • LB Cup Champion Chouest Returns AUSTIN, Texas (May 3, 2017) – The fifth season of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America gets underway May 4-6 at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. The series’ third consecutive year competing at the famous 3.4-mile, 20-turn road course will see new drivers and teams enter the fray with championship aspirations, beginning their 2017 campaigns with two rounds of racing. Drivers will take to the track in purpose-built Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo race cars which enter their third year of service in the popular series. Competition in the series is divided into separate classes, Pro, Pro-Am, Amateur (Am), and Lamborghini Cup – a class for those new to professional racing. Recognizing the breadth of talent in the Super Trofeo field, awards are given across four categories - Overall, Pro-Am, Am, and Lamborghini Cup. The 2017 grid features new and returning drivers and teams who will be vying for championships across each class. -

The historic venue will play host to Rounds 5 and 6 of the championship, marking the midpoint of the season’s intensifying championship battles. Competition in the series is divided into separate classes, Pro, Pro-Am, Amateur (Am), and Lamborghini Cup – a class for those new to professional racing. Richard Antinucci has been the dominant driver in the Pro category this year, winning the first three races in a row. The driver of the No. 16 Change Racing entry, representing Lamborghini Carolinas saw his championship lead crumble after trouble struck in the second race at Watkins Glen International, forcing him to finish off the podium. -

AUSTIN, Texas (May 3, 2017) – Richard Antinucci took the lead early and never looked back in Race 1 of the opening weekend of the 2017 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season on Friday at Circuit of The Americas. The No. 16 Change Racing driver, representing Lamborghini Carolinas, jumped up from his second-place grid position on the opening lap, seizing control of a race he would eventually win by over two seconds. The series veteran and 2015 Super Trofeo North America Pro Driver Champion, was a comfortable leader for much of the race, despite a brief bobble which allowed Edoardo Piscopo and Taylor Proto in the No. 50 entry of US Racetronics representing Lamborghini Beverly Hills to close within a few seconds in the early stages of the race. “It was a great start and really good first stint. -

A TIGHT FIGHT DONE RIGHT – GABBY CHAVES DRIVES A FLAWLESS RACE TO CLAIM HIS SECOND WIN FROM THE POLE IN THE STAR MAZDA SEASON FINALE DURING THE PETIT LE MANS AT ROAD ATLANTA Road Atlanta / October 19, 2012 – Colombian racer Gabriel 'Gabby' Chaves, finished his rookie season in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear in the best possible way, with a win from the pole that cemented his second-place finish in the championship battle. It was his second consecutive win from the pole; Chaves did it the first time in Race 2 at the previous event at Mazda Raceway and then, like today, he drove a flawless race with a top competitor filling the mirrors of the #19 JDC Motorsports / CLARO / Marca Colombia / Tecpro Mazda every foot of the way between green and checkered. In this case, it was the bright red #88 Andretti Autosport / Comfort Revolution Mazda car of Sage Karam. He, too, had a nearly-flawless race until – just for 'style points,' as he put it – he spun and continued in turn 7 on the last lap of the 37-lap race. Coming home third, and the potential beneficiary of Karam's mistake were it not for the 18-second gap between 2nd and 3rd, was Connor De Phillippi in the #2 Juncos Racing / ModSpace Racing / One24 Mazda. Trying to make the best of a bad situation that nearly destroyed his car in qualifying yesterday and dropped him to 9th on the starting grid, De Phillippi drove a smart, disciplined race to finish on the podium. -
