The BUZZWORTHY V.24 ISSUE 4 New Direct Hits album from The Killers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in Buffalo for Saying “Goodbye” to our The Heist world tour seniors PLUS: Grouplove, M.I.A., Kevin Devine Bands You NEED to Follow! Is the “Ugg-ly” Trend Over? From the STATION MANAGER... “Good bye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end, but in my heart is the memory and there you will always be.” -The Fox and the Hound I have been dreading having to write this final column since the day that I was elected. I don’t want to say goodbye to this part of my life. When I came to Bona’s I decided to join the station because I thought it would be fun to have a show with some friends and call a few basketball games. I thought getting on the Board of Directors or becoming Station Manager would be extremely cool but impossible to achieve. Little did I know that the station would become the center of my college experience. Ever since I was put on the Board of Directors my sophomore year, The Buzz has felt like home. I’ve met some of my closest friends in the Board Room. Over the years, I’ve spent hours wasting time in the station and have taken countless naps on the leather couches. I’d like to say the station has become my home. Now I’m old and getting pushed out of the nest. However, it’s nice to know that I’m not alone. Marissa, Karly and Paige are in the same boat as I am. I’ve known these lovely ladies since I started school, and it’s been amazing sharing this experience with them. I know somewhere in this issue will be a farewell page to all of us who are leaving when the semester ends. However, I wanted to say my own goodbyes. Marissa and I came on the board the same semester. Since we were both shy at first, we were attached at the hip. I’ll never forget hanging out with Danny Busch at banquet and sleeping together in a shower curtain. Through the years, Marissa has always been a reliable Board member, even if she’s never shown up to a board meeting on time. As time has passed, we’ve had many Paul classes together and have grown as friends. Marissa, thank you for helping me adjust to the board and for all of the amazing memories. Karly was always that person in class who intimidated the hell out of me. Freshman year she always had something to say and seemed to be the stereotypical “know it all.” After I got on the board however, I instantly wanted to be friends with Karl who always seemed like the life of the party in the Board Room. No matter how close Karl and I got though I always feared being put on the Buzzworthy’s “Shit List,” which I’ve been placed on a few times. Karl, I have nothing but fond and fun memories with you. Thank you for constantly putting up with my horrible grammar and becoming a close friend. Paige, writing to you is really awkward because you are across the room writing my goodbye right now, too. Paige was one of the first friends that I made when I came to Bona’s and someone on the board that I have the most memories with. Between classes, weekend activities and CMJ’s, my memories with Paige are endless and sometimes nonexistent. There are so many things I want to say to you, Paige, but I think that we can both agree that the Buzzworthy is just not ready for some things. Paige, thanks for always making things interesting and for being a friend for so long, but please stop hitting on me. Well now I’m just down right sad. Leaving the station is harder than any test, paper or assignment that I’ll have to do in school. However, it’s nice to know that The Buzz is in good hands. We have an amazing Board filled with people who are extremely dedicated. I know Mike will do a wonderful job leading them, and we have the ability to make it back to #1 again. Thank you to all the members of the Board of Directors, alumni and the JMC School for making this year as Station Manager absolutely amazing. Even though sometimes it was stressful and not everything always went as planned, it was still incredible. I look forward to coming back next semester as a staffer and watching the Board grow. After all, I still live off campus and still don’t have a car, where else am I going to spend all my time between classes? -Meghan Palluconi Station Manager Station Manager: Meghan Palluconi Editor-in-Chief: Alexandra Napoli Managing Editor: Morgan Statt Inside the issue: Contributors: 3 Lady Gaga and Grouplove 9 Stubs Jillian Hammell, Matthew Hoey, 4 Deborah Cohan and The 10 Holiday gifts Kirk Windus, Elyse Breeze, Joseph Phelan, Nicholas Coyne, Killers 12 Uggs and Instagram Alicia Maldonado, Rebecca Rehac, 5 Musicians on Twitter 13 Summer to winter Nina LaPres, Samantha Arena, and Music Musings 14 Thor and Bad Grandpa Madeleine Faircloth, 6 The Heist Tour 15 Board says goodbye Maggie Kovacs, Sarah Vaden, 7 Frightened Rabbit Lauren Zazzara, Justin Peterson, 8 Kevin Devine Stephanie Kennedy 2 November 22, 2013 The Buzzworthy DISAPPOINTED LITTLE MONSTERS?
