Before using the IIaC utility, you must install the following on your system: • Teamcenter Rapid Start • CAD tool, such as SolidWorks or Inventor RS010 11.6 Integrating Rapid Start with MCAD Tools 2-1 ChCaphtaeprte2r: 2:ConfiCgounrifingguRrianpgidRaSptaidrtSutsairntgusthinegInthteegIrnatteiognraItniosntaIlnlasttioalnlaatinodnCaonndfiCgounrafitgiounrautitoilnityutility • CAD integration software, such as SWIM or TCAI Automated configuration of CAD integrations lets you start using the CAD tools with Rapid Start quickly without manually updating additional configuration files. Beginning with Teamcenter 10.1.3, the IIaC utility is provided in the TcRS_Kit/additional_applications/tcrs/utilities/IIaC.zip file. Unzip this file and run the IIaC.bat file to launch the utility user interface. Note Initially, IIaC supports Dassault Systems SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor integrations with Rapid Start. • Each supported configuration has specific prerequisites. • In most locations help is available for input boxes by clicking on the box. Configure Inventor IIaC-Inventor overview IIaC automatically performs required configurations. After the installation of TCAI components, you configure the integration between Inventor and Teamcenter. Prerequisites for configuring Inventor using IIaC Before running IIaC to configure Inventor, ensure the following: • Your versions of Inventor, TCAI, and Teamcenter Rapid Start are compatible. • The JRE_HOME environment variable is set. • The following are installed. On the server On the client o Teamcenter Rapid Start corporate server o Teamcenter Rapid Start two-tier or four-tier client o TCAI server components o TCAI client components o Support for Teamcenter Rapid Start two-tier or four-tier client When the TCAI client component is installed, the server.config file is available in the config folder. o Inventor CAD tool 2-2 Integrating Rapid Start with MCAD Tools RS010 11.6 Configurriing Rapiid Sttarrtt usiing tthe IInttegrattiion IInstallllatiion and Configuration utility Run the IIaC utility to configure Inventor To perform automatic Inventor configuration: 1. Run IIaC.bat and select TcAI Configuration. 2. Select All Users or Single User. Note If Single User is selected, you must also provide the user root directory for the Inventor installation. 3. Select Two Tier or Four Tier. 4. Browse to the absolute path of the client_specific.properties file. This file is in the configuration_* folder in the TC_ROOT/portal plugins directory. 5. Provide the server connection name. This user-defined connection name is available in the Inventor CAD tool when connecting to Teamcenter from Inventor. 6. Browse to the location of the TCAI client directory. 7. Browse to the TC_ROOT directory for the Teamcenter Rapid Start corporate server. 8. Browse to the directory containing the server.config. Click Start. The TCAI2APP.PAR file or the server.config file are updated with the server details for the two-tier or four-tier configuration of Rapid Start. Note If you upgrade the Rapid Start version, you must rerun the IIaC utility to reconfigure the integration. Results of running IIaC to configure Inventor Optionally, you can verify the changes made by IIaC: • When the configuration is for all users, the IIaC utility updates the server.config file with the server details from the client_specific.properties file for the two-tier or four-tier configuration. • When the configuration is for a single user, the TCAI2APP.PAR file is updated. • Open parts from the rich client in Inventor. This shows that the MechworksTcaiplugin_*.jar was copied from the TCAI installation Rac folder to the TC ROOT\portal\plugins folder in of the Teamcenter Rapid Start installation. Map attributes for Inventor Attribute mapping is not performed by IIaC for TcAI configuration. You can perform attribute mapping manually after the IIaC configuration is successful. Note A sample attribute mapping file, IIaC/InvConfigurationUtility/Sample_Inventor_mapping_file.txt, is provided in the IIaC.zip file. 1. Use the export_attr_mappings utility to export the Teamcenter mapping file. In a Teamcenter command prompt window, enter the following command: export_attr_mappings -u=username -p=password -g=group -file=drive-path\attribute_mapping.txt 2. Edit the exported attribute mapping file to map the Teamcenter Rapid Start attributes for the various dataset types needed, such as AIPart, AIAssembly, AIDrawing, and AIPresentation. 2-4 Integrating Rapid Start with MCAD Tools RS010 11.6 Configurriing Rapiid Sttarrtt usiing tthe IInttegrattiion IInstallllatiion and Configuration utility 3.
