• Samford had one home game in the first week of the season, a 71-54 win over DIII Rhodes College, but will play 11 of their first 14 contests on the road. The two remaining home games in the span are against Presbyterian (Dec. 2) and UAB (Dec. 5). • ETSU is the lone winless team in the conference, though the Bucs’ played two Power 5 opponents (Michigan State and South Carolina) and seven of their eight contests on the road. • Mercer is the lone SoCon team in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-major poll, coming in at No. 24 this week. • Chattanooga guard Lakelyn Bouldin entered the top-10 for career 3-pointers made. Bouldin, who sits in 10th, has 139. • Bouldin was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week. • For the first time this season, Western Carolina had three players finish in double-digit scoring in the loss at NJIT. In the tough loss to the Highlanders, the Catamounts scored a season-high 71 points. Freshmen Gabby Smith and Jewel Smalls have each scored in double-figures twice this season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jackie Carman - Wofford - Guard

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford guard Jackie Carman has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week for games played Nov. 20-26 after averaging 18.0 points per game. The award is selected by the league office.

The freshman came off the bench and led Wofford in scoring in both contests last week as the Terriers went 1-1. In a 70-53 win over Big South foe Winthrop on Nov. 20, Carman notched a career-high 20 points and pulled down five rebounds. She was 7-of-14 from the field (50 percent) and 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) from be- yond the arc and also dished out three assists to help the Terriers remain perfect at home.

Carman, a native of Twinsburg, Ohio, scored a team-high 16 points in just 24 minutes in Wofford’s 60-46 loss at UNC Asheville on Sunday. She was 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Through seven games, Carman is second on the Wofford squad with 13.4 points per game and sixth in the conference, though she is the top-scoring freshman in the league. She has scored in double figures in three straight contests and five of seven on the year. Carman leads the conference in free-throw percentage (89.5 percent) and is top-10 in 3-point field-goal percentage and 3-point field goals made.
