A one person difference or and eleven person difference is negligible in terms of the total number of people being taken into consideration in this redistricting process. The simple move of Vassalboro is the simplest solution and the one that will create the least amount of turmoil. The opposing option is complex. Why would complexity be favored over simplicity? Perhaps there's something else at play here.

The Republican redistricting plan clearly favors the second district unfairly. It is very clear that the Republicans are going for a power grab in Maine as they are in all other states. They know that putting many of the counties and districts into district 2 would further devalue the votes of those in district 1. This is a blatant misuse of power and coming after the legislation of stopping same-day voter registration, this new plan will make it harder yet again for voters to vote.
