DAILY MASS READINGS The Priesthood of Jesus Christ

Monday: 2 Corinthians 6:1-10; Matthew 5:38-42 Thank you so much for celebrating with me and family this past Saturday my 20th Anniversary of priesthood. It was a great Tuesday: 2 Corinthians 8:1-9; Matthew 5:43-48 celebration! I have heard from so many people that they really had a Wednesday: 2 Corinthians 9:6-11; Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 great time that evening. My mom said to me the next day, “You have Thursday: 2 Corinthians 11:1-11; Matthew 6:7-15 so many wonderful people in your parish.” “I agree mom. I’m truly Friday: 2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30; Matthew 6:19-23 blessed to be here.” Saturday: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10; Matthew 6:24-34 Today, June 10, my actual anniversary date, I sit at the Sunday: Job 38:1, 8-11; Mark 4:35-41 computer thinking of all the people who made this party a great success.

There were many people behind the scenes who worked so hard – thank

you! To those who helped coordinate the whole event: Beth This Week’s Program Schedule Kirkpatrick, Donna Roeck, Nicci Malm, and their book club - thank you! YLI and Knights of Columbus – thanks for all that you did! Bill Monday, June 15 Marson, thanks for the great music! Jeff Persons, you kept everything 8:00AM Mass Church flowing, thanks so much! A word of gratitude to all of the wonderful 6:00-7:00PM Adoration/Reconciliation Church cooks who brought food to the potluck - I tried to sample all of it, but couldn’t because there was so much. I want to thank each and every Tuesday, June 16 person, whether you came to the anniversary party or not, for your 8:00AM Mass Church prayers and support! To all those who brought a card or gift for me – 6:30-8:00PM Knights of Columbus Lounge thank you!

The priesthood is a gift. I do not deserve it, nor am I worthy Wednesday, June 17 of it. Twenty years ago today I said yes to Christ. Each day the Lord 8:00AM Mass Church has said yes to me and has given me sufficient grace to be his priest. Please pray that I will be his priest today and always. The following is Thursday, June 18 a beautiful prayer by John Cardinal O’Connor that can be said for priests:

A Prayer for Priests Friday, June 19 4:30PM Mass Church O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your sons who are close to you because of their priestly ordination and because of Saturday, June 20 the power which they have received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs them so much. Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength, 3:30-4:30PM Reconciliation Church and especially help them to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. 5:00PM Mass Church

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have Sunday, June 21 given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs. 9:00AM Mass Church We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your 9:00AM Children’s Liturgy Church own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, 6:00PM Mass Church filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as Something for our Children! do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they Can you unscramble the following words from today’s Gospel? understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry EDES INRAG STEVRHA with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.
