PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH Lord, in this Year of Faith let me see your face, know your heart and experience your love in my life. Strengthen in me the precious gift of Faith. I believe, Lord; help my unbelief. Amen THE YEAR OF FAITH(2) working group Chris Lynch has kindly agreed to chair a working group to progress our Year of Faith. The Group will

meet early in the new year and members are eagerly

sought. You do not need to be an expert on religion or

on the Church; rather someone who is willing to bring

their views and energy to planning activities which

will nourish and stimulate the parish in this special

year. We are particularly eager to represent our parish

diversity – parents of young families, students and

couples, single parishioners, our senior members,

newcomers and long-standing members .. everyone is

welcome. Interested? Please contact Oona Stannard

on 07818 425 199 or [email protected]

FIRST FRIDAY LUNCHES

We are delighted to be able to tell you that our First

Friday Lunches WILL continue next year, as from

Friday, February 1st, under the leadership of Liz

Robinson. Thank you, Liz! However, several of our st seasoned 1 Friday volunteers will be ‘retiring’ and we urgently need helpers to take their place. If you could spare 2-3 hours once on month on a Friday, contact the Parish Office 8940 3101 Or [email protected]

THE PARISH DATABASE

If you haven‘t yet done so, please take a form from the back of the church to fill in and register on the Parish Database. It is really important that everyone completes a form so that we can maintain a correct and up-to- date record of parishioners. There are forms at the back of the church. Please return completed forms to the boxes on the tables after Mass or to the Parish Office at other times.

Thank you Father Tom

CAFOD is making a difference in many parts of the world where there is a lack of clean and safe water and people are hungry. We need to spread the word about THE FUTURE OF THE 1ST FRIDAY LUNCHES CAFOD’s work in our schools and parishes. Would Sally Durant, organiser and co-ordinator of the Friday you become a CAFOD volunteer? You would lunches, will host her last lunch on Friday, December receive full training and support. Contact Jim 7th. After 10 years of devoted service – during which Simmons or Sarah Westrap on 01322 294 924 time around £20,000 has been raised for local charities Or e-mail [email protected] and Parish projects - Sally has now accepted the Chair

of the Kew Community Trust and so is unable to

continue with this work.

We are looking for someone to replace her; to

handle the organisation and to co-ordinate her dedicated team of soup and pudding makers and volunteer helpers. The lunches run throughout the year, except for January and August. The Team usually holds a Planning Meeting for the next year in November, and it would be excellent if we had a volunteer by then to take over from Sally. If YOU are up for the challenge, contact Sally at [email protected] or the parish office at [email protected]. If no-one feels able to come forward we will regrettably have to suspend the lunches as from January 2013. Thank you Sally, for your work, time and dedication to these lunches. They are a great example of Christian outreach and have given great pleasure to many people. Good luck in your new role with the Kew Community Trust.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Lowe, whom Sally in replacing as the Chair of the Kew Community Trust, for all his hard work during his time in the role.

ABC PLAYGROUP restarts on Tuesday, September 11th, 10-11.30am. Florencia and Grace have been running the Playgroup for the last year, but now Grace’s daughter has outgrown the group and soon they will stop coming. Florencia will need help from another parent or nanny or two, so they can share the organization. Please let Fr Tom know if you can help, or contact Florencia on [email protected]

SOFT TOYS PLEASE!! Once again – as I do from time to time – I appeal to parents to bring only soft toys for their children to play with in church. Please do not bring hard toys – wood, metal or plastic – as these get banged against the benches and because of the acoustics in church the noise is amplified. Plastic bricks are a particular problem because as well as being banged, they clatter loudly when dropped. Your children can beat the brains out of their favourite teddy or soft toy without making much noise.

Can I also remind you that for children from 3 upwards, we provide worksheets each week with puzzles and things to colour; and there is a special bookcase full of books which you can borrow during Mass. Many thanks Father Tom
