Call to Worship God invites us into his healing presence with these words: “I am the Lord, who heals you.” Diseased, depressed, dysfunctional, defeated, we come hungering for health that only God can provide. God calls us to bring open eyes, hearing ears, and tender hearts turned toward him, the Great Physician. We bow before him in faith and expectancy! —based on Exodus 15:26; Isaiah 6:10

Worship in Song “Jesus Cast a Look on me” 1. Jesus cast a look on me, 4 . Leaning on Thy loving breast, Give me sweet simplicity Where a weary soul can rest Make me poor and keep me low, Feeling well the peace of God, Seeking only Thee to know Flowing from His precious blood 2. All that feeds my busy pride, 5 . In this posture let me live, Cast it evermore aside And hosannas daily give Bid my will to Thine submit, In this temper let me die, Lay me humbly at Thy feet And hosannas ever cry! 3. Make me like a little child, Of my strength and wisdom spoiled Seeing only in Thy light, Walking only in Thy might

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places

“Speak O Lord” 1. Speak, O Lord, as we come to You To receive the food of Your Holy Word Take Your truth, plant it deep in us; Shape and fashion us in Your likeness That the light of Christ might be seen today In our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us All Your purposes for Your glory. 2. Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence, true humility; Test our thoughts and our attitudes In the radiance of Your purity. Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see Your majestic love and authority. Words of pow'r that can never fail— Let their truth prevail over unbelief. 3. Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us Truths unchanged from the dawn of time That will echo down through eternity. And by grace we'll stand on Your promises, And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us. Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built And the earth is filled with Your glory.

Corporate Prayer Dear Father, Refresher of your weary inheritance, we need you to fight for us today. Vanquish the evil one who would snatch from us the nourishing feast of promises and life you have set before us. War against our indifference, lethargy, and flagging confidence in your goodness, your nearness, and your favor. Battle the dense dreariness of sorrow, guilt, unforgiveness, rebellion, and confusion which encloses around us like a fog and say to us with resounding reassurance, “I AM YOUR SALVATION.” Visit us and defend us in such a way that we may exclaim with our whole being, “The Lord be exalted who delights in the well-being of his servants.” (Prayer inspired by on Psalm 35 and 67)

Scripture Reading Psalm 31 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. 2 T urn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. 3 Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. 4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God. 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols;as for me, I trust in the Lord. 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. 8 You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. 9 Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. 1 0 My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction and my bones grow weak. 1 1 Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors and an object of dread to my closest friends—those who see me on the street flee from me. 1 2 I am forgotten as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery. 1 3 For I hear many whispering,“Terror on every side!” They conspire against me and plot to take my life. 1 4 But I trust in you, Lord I say, “You are my God.” 1 5 My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.1 6 Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.1 7 Let me not be put to shame, Lord, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and be silent in the realm of the dead. 1 8 Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. 1 9 How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you. 2 0 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues. 21 Praise be to the Lord, for he showed me the wonders of his love when I was in a city under siege. 2 2 In my alarm I said, “I am cut off from your sight!” Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help. 23 Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. 2 4 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

Mark 4:35-41 35 T hat day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 L eaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.3 7 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 J esus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 3 9 H e got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 4 0 H e said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 4 1 T hey were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Closing Song “O the Deep Deep Love of Jesus,” 1. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, How He watches o’ er His loved ones, Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free! Died to call them all His own; Rolling as a mighty ocean How for them He intercedeth, In its fullness over me! Watcheth o’ er them from the throne! Underneath me, all around me, 3. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Is the current of Thy love Love of every love the best! Leading onward, leading homeward Tis an ocean vast of blessing, To Thy glorious rest above! Tis a haven sweet of rest! 2. O the deep, deep love of Jesus, O the deep, deep love of Jesus, Spread His praise from shore to shore T is a heaven of heavens to me; How He loveth, ever loveth, And it lifts me up to glory, Changeth never, nevermore!
