Teenage maths prodigy Nathan (Asa Butterfield) struggles when it comes to building relationships with other people, not least with his mother, Julie (Sally Hawkins). In a world difficult to comprehend, he finds comfort in numbers. And when Nathan is taken under the wing of unconventional and anarchic teacher, Mr. Humphreys (Rafe Spall), the pair forge an unusual friendship. Eventually, Nathan’s talents win him a place on the UK National team at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and the team travel to a training camp in Taiwan, under the supervision of squad leader Richard (Eddie Marsan). In unfamiliar surroundings, Nathan is confronted by a series of unexpected challenges — not least the unfamiliar feelings he begins to experience for his Chinese counterpart, the beautiful Zhang Mei (Jo Yang), feelings that develop when the young mathematicians return to England for the IMO, held at Trinity College, Cambridge. From suburban England to bustling Taipei and back again, this original and heart-warming film tracks the funny and complex relationships that Nathan builds, as he is confronted by the irrational nature of love. -

Synopsis When her married lover and fellow police officer Sean Hardacre goes missing under mysterious circumstances, Detective Hannah Laing launches an urgent manhunt. She manages to contact one of Sean’s confidential sources: ‘Issy’, and with her partner starts investigating the Mimica family. They discover that the close-knit Croatian clan plans to smuggle a massive quantity of cocaine into the country, but when Hannah finds out the informant is her son Christian, she becomes conflicted about the investigation. Christian’s carefully prepared cover story is put to the test, but far more drastic action is needed to preserve his cover and protect himself. Based on the eponymous noir Swedish series Before We Die is breathtaking crime thriller, full of heart-stopping jeopardy and unpredictable twists. 2 Walter IUZZOLINO Chief Executive Officer | Eagle Eye Drama „Before We Die is a fantastic concept and a stand out piece of storytelling – I fell in love with the idea when I first read the scripts for the Swedish original a few years back, and always thought there was something universal at its core which would translate very powerfully into a must-see piece of English speaking drama. The series uses the architecture and grammar of a high octane serialised thriller to tell the story of a fractured relationship between a mother and her son. As such it is ultimately a compelling piece of character driven psychological drama. The original series was really strong but it was often steeped into archetypal Swedish and Nordic crime tropes (a violent war between rival biker gangs as the backdrop for the main plotline) which do not have a similar resonance in the UK and US, so I always felt it was a perfect candidate for adaptation. -

Harvard (Author-Date) Referencing
Harvard (Author-Date) Referencing University of Hull standard style If you Google 'Harvard Referencing' you will find that every university has its own guide and that they all differ slightly in terms of punctuation, formatting and the order of information. 'Harvard Referencing' refers to any referencing style that uses the author name and year of publication within the text to indicate that information or ideas have been sourced from elsewhere. For this reason it is sometimes referred to as 'Author Date' referencing. This guide gives University of Hull students definitive examples of how to reference different materials using Harvard referencing for all their submitted work. This is the standardised referencing system to be used by all departments, faculties and schools at the University of Hull who ask their students to use the Harvard referencing system. Use these guidelines when referencing manually. We do, however, recommend that all students learn how to use bibliographic software (EndNote or Refworks) over the course of their studies to make their referencing more efficient. Relevant styles are available on the Skills Team pages of the Library website.
