Weekly COVID-19 Surveillance Report in Leicestershire Cumulative data from 01/03/2020 - 29/09/2021 This report summarises the information from the surveillance system which is used to monitor the cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Leicestershire. The report is based on daily data up to 29th September 2021. The maps presented in the report examine counts and rates of COVID-19 at Middle Super Output Area. Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs) are a census based geography used in the reporting of small area statistics in England and Wales. The minimum population is 5,000 and the average is 7,200. Disclosure control rules have been applied to all figures not currently in the public domain. Counts between 1 to 5 have been suppressed at MSOA level. UK Coal Ltd submitted a planning application in July 2009 (2009/0720/07) for the extraction of coal and fireclay and subsequent restoration to agriculture, woodland and nature conservation on land to the east of Gallows Lane and between Swepstone Road and Bosworth Road, between the villages of Measham and Swepstone. In June 2011, the Development Control and Regulatory Board resolved to grant permission subject to conditions and a S106 legal agreement (the 2011 permission). The site is known as the Minorca Surface Mine and preparatory works commenced in June 2012, with the first coal being extracted four months later in October of 2012. 2. Condition 9 of the 2011 permission requires the whole of the site to be restored no later than 6th June 2017 – five years from the start of the preparatory works. -

Fearn A Light in the Darkness – the Taper Burns of Donington le Heath Manor House By Alison Fearn, PhD candidate, University of Leicester Summary In 2016 the author undertook an in-depth survey and analysis of the medieval manor house of Donington le Heath in Leicestershire. During the investigation, a large number of markings and graffiti were recorded across the structure. Further analysis of the markings, their form, and their distribution led to the conclusion that most were ritual in nature and were created to add a significant layer of spiritual protection to vulnerable areas of the structure. Introduction The vast majority of the markings recorded at Donington le Heath are considered to be “ritual protection marks”; symbols that had an apotropaic function, which, in their simplest form were designed to ward off evil influences and misfortune. -

It should be remembered that previous to 1752 the year was calculated as beginning on the 25th March, instead of the I St of January, so that a Marriage taking place on say 20th February, 1625, would be on that date in 1626 according to our reckoning ; but as the civil and ecclesiastical year were both used, this is sometimes expressed by 20th February, i62f. In all cases where the marriage is stated to have taken place by Licence, that fact is recorded, as the searcher thereby knows that further information as to age, parentage, and voca- tion of the parties is probably recoverable from the Allegations in the Archdeaconry or other ofifice from which the Licence was issued. -
