BalletX prides itself on cultivating dancers and choreographer through the creation of new and innovative work that challenges the boundaries of ballet. Edgar Anido, Gary Jeter, Skyler Lubin, and Daniel Mayo each bring a fresh perspective and extensive dance experience to the company lineup. Originally from Santa Clara, Cuba, Edgar Anido joins BalletX after 6 years dancing with Complexions Contemporary Ballet. He began his dance training at age nine at the Vocational School of the Arts, AlejoCaprentier, and National School of Ballet in Cuba. Edgar has performed as a soloist with Camagüey Ballet and as a principal dancer with Central Ballet Theatre in Guayaquil, Ecuador. From 2008 to 2014, Edgar danced with Complexions Contemporary Ballet where he worked with choreographers such as Dwight Rhoden, Jae Man Joo, Maurice Causey, Mark Godden, and William Soleau, among others. A former dancer with Philadanco, Gary W. Jeter II returns to Philadelphia to join BalletX. After training at Pebble Brook High School for the Performing Arts in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, Gary received a full director’s scholarship to the University of the Arts. Upon graduation, Gary joined Philadanco, where he was a featured dancer from 2003 to 2007. Gary then danced with Complexions Contemporary Ballet from 2007 to 2014, and is now an artist in residence for the company. Also a promising choreographer, Gary has created work for the University of the Arts, Eleone Dance Theater, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Skyler Lubinreturns home to join BalletX after dancing with Miami City Ballet from 2010-2014. Originally from Cherry Hill, NJ, Sklyerreceived her pre-professional training at The Rock School of Dance Education in Philadelphia. While there, BalletX Artistic Director Christine Cox trained her for her role as Clara in The Nutcracker, and noticed her remarkable talent. Skyler has attended summer programs at The School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and American Ballet Theater. As a member of Miami City Ballet’s corps de ballet, under the direction of Edward Villella and Lourdes Lopez, Skyler performed in featured roles including Flower Festival pas de deux, Swan Lake pas de trois, and Jerome Robbins' Afternoon of a Faun. Daniel Mayo joined BalletX for Summer Series 2014 and will continue dancing with the company for the 2014-2015 season. Daniel is originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and received his BFA in Dance from The Julliard School. From 2007-2010, Daniel danced with Atlanta Ballet, performing acclaimed classical and contemporary roles by choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, JiříKylián, and William Forsythe. Most recently, Daniel danced with the Montreal- based company RUBBERBANDance Group where he toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia under the direction of Victor Quijada. BalletX’s2014-2015 Season opens with Fall Series 2014, November 19-23 at The Wilma Theater, featuring a world premiere by JormaElo, the East Coast premiere of Matthew Neenan’sIncreasing, and Olivier Wever’s 2013 ballet Instantly Bound.
