No entry gained 29) Chesterfield Mews, Ashford (45190009693) 27th January 2019 – games machines stolen from property with no sign of forced entry 30) Evelyn Crescent, Sunbury-on- Thames (45190010373) 26th – 29th January 2019 – glazing in rear studio flat smashed in attempt to gain entry. No entry gained PLEASE do what you can to make your rear gardens more secure – lock side gates, keep wheelie bins behind these gates and ensure your fence is maintained. Consider additional trellis along fences and over side gates to deter climbing. Appropriate security lighting at front, side and rear (especially where overlooked) is also a big deterrent, along with forensic property marking or property registration (SelectaDNA or www.immobilise.com with the relevant stickers displayed). The number of thefts of mopeds and motorcycles from garages, gardens and the street has continued this period: and sheds and garages remain a target for bicycles and tools. Secure garages and sheds as effectively as possible and consider registering identifiable property with www.immobilise.com or Bike Register etc. Targeted locations this period: Convent Road, Ashford (Peugeot Speedfight); Station Road, Shepperton (Yamaha Delight); Avondale Avenue, Ashford (Honda SH); School Walk, Sunbury-on-Thames (Piaggio); Escot Road, Sunbury-on- Thames (attempt); Woodthorpe Road, Ashford (Yamaha XP); Manygate Lane, Shepperton (Yamaha YBR); The number of thefts and sheds broken into has reduced considerably, but the following locations have been targeted: Bingham Drive, Staines-upon-Thames; Laurel Gardens, Ashford; Blacksmith Close, Sunbury-on- Thames; Abbeyfields, Chertsey; Hithermoor Road, Stanwell Moor. The number of reports of thefts from parked vehicles continue across the Borough with no discernible pattern. Don’t leave anything of value in vehicles overnight. Entry is being gained either through insecurity or smashed windows where property is on view. This includes the ongoing thefts of tools from work vans. Vehicles are also being stolen: London Road, Stanwell (Nissan Pick-Up); International Way, Sunbury-on-Thames (Ford Transit); Thames Street, Sunbury-on-Thames (VW Golf); Sundeala Close, Sunbury-on-Thames (Peugeot 106); Brooklands Close, Sunbury-on-Thames (Fiat Ducato and Land Rover Discovery); Ravensbourne Avenue, Stanwell (Mercedes Sprinter); Hawthorn Way, Shepperton (Mercedes Sprinter); Hillingdon Avenue, Stanwell (Ford Transit). Some of these have been stolen without keys – so think about who you hand your car keys over to - car washes, garages etc. - and where and how you store your keys at home. Protect your car keys by leaving them in a tin or car key signal blocking pouch. The recent spate of catalytic convertor thefts from Honda Jazz models in Runnymede and Spelthorne appears to have stopped – for now… Anybody seen jacking up and working under these types of vehicles can be considered worth a phone call to Police - 999 if the crime is in progress.     Spelthorne Local Plan Preferred Options Consultation Response from the Colne Valley Regional Park Community Interest Company January 2020 Context and Introduction 1. The Colne Valley Regional Park covers 43 square miles. It is the first taste of countryside to the west of London. The Regional Park aims to ensure multi-functional use of land in line with the six objectives of the Park, namely: i. To maintain and enhance the landscape, historic environment and waterscape of the park in terms of their scenic and conservation value and their overall amenity. ii. To safeguard the countryside of the Park from inappropriate development. Where development is permissible it will encourage the highest possible standards of design. iii. To conserve and enhance biodiversity within the Park through the protection and management of its species, habitats and geological features iv. To provide opportunities for countryside recreation and ensure that facilities are accessible to all v. To achieve a vibrant and sustainable rural economy, including farming and forestry, underpinning the value of the countryside vi. To encourage community participation including volunteering and environmental education. To promote the health and social well-being benefits that access to high quality green space brings. 2. There is a strong geographical crossover between Spelthorne Borough and the Colne Valley Regional Park: 21% of Spelthorne Borough lies within the Colne Valley Regional Park (CVRP). The CVRP is a significant asset for Spelthorne and should be included in the ‘Spelthorne facts’ and ‘Open spaces and leisure’ sections of the Local Plan. 3. A Community Interest Company (CIC) oversees the CVRP. The CVRP CIC collaborates with Spelthorne BC to identify and, where resources allow, implement ways to enhance the environment and accessibility (by non motorised modes) of the Park.
