To subject the Academy to such scrutiny would be impossible and unfair. It ' s the Academy ' s awards, not ours.

Additionally, this study aims to fill the research gap in relation to the minimal documentation that exists regarding the role and contributions of the film choreographer within the film industry. In order to move forward in assessing how the film choreographer can be recognized within the Oscars, one must address why they have not been sufficiently recognized within the history of the Academy Awards. By assessing the film choreographer’s value within the film industry through semi-structured interviews and data analysis methodologies, it was concluded their lack of recognition within the Oscars is due to the lack of dance’s presence in film, the undefined role of a film choreographer, and the general lack of awareness revolving around their contributions to film. All of which directly contribute to the film choreographer’s disproportionately perceived value within the film industry. Overall, this research intends to increase the dialogue revolving around the film choreographer as well as validate their value within the film industry.

The Museum of Modern Art H West 53 Street, New York, N.Y. 10019 Tel. 956-6100 Cable: Modernart NO. 20 From: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lillian Gerard (212) 956-7296 SCREEN BIOGRAPHY OF MARY PICKFORD TO PREMIERE AT MUSEUM OF MODERN ART PERSONAL APPEARANCES BY BUDDY RODGERS & PRODUCER MATTY KEMP To honor the most widely acknowledged and celebrated pioneer of American film, the actress Mary Pickford, whose career began in 1909, The Museum of Modern Art has set aside the evening of March 20 at 8:30 p.m. to present a new screen biography, titled "America's Sweetheart: The Mary Pickford Story." Narrated by Henry Fonda, with commentary highlights by Miss Pickford, the film has special commentary by Gene Kelly, Charles "Buddy" Rodgers, Lord Lewis Mountbatten, Yvonne Vallee (the former Mrs. Maurice Chevalier) and Galina Kravtchenko, who recorded those portions filmed in the Soviet Union. The picture was produced by Matty Kemp and Michael Small from a screenplay by John Edwards, who also directed this co-production between the Mary Pickford Company and Polytel Films, Ltd. of London. The premiere at the Museum has been arranged at the request of Miss Pickford, in recognition of the Museum's work in preserving her films. Buddy Rodgers, her husband, will introduce the film and Matty Kemp, the producer, will also comment on it.
