Jack Weiss is the only Democrat and the only Environmentalist Running for LA City Attorney. Jack Weiss is a lifelong Democrat – Throughout his service as a federal prosecutor and City Councilmember Jack Weiss has stood for Democratic values - for civil rights, women’s rights, LGBT rights, immigrants' rights and the rights of working families and children. In 2008 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. An early supporter of Mayor , Jack Weiss has been an ally and partner to the Mayor in public safety, educational, and quality of life improvements for the City.

Jack Weiss is a proud Democrat who is a founding member of the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, and a member of the Westside Urban Forum, Heal the Bay, and County Young Democrats, in addition to serving on many local bodies and bar committees.

Jack Weiss was an early and strong supporter of Measure R which provides funding for a subway to the sea, and a more overall efficient public transit system for LA. He has fought for improvements for transit users including the Orange Line and Expo Line both to reduce traffic and fight air pollution.

∗ Jack Weiss has fought for public education – He has supported schools throughout his district by improving safety for kids around campuses, providing funds to help parent/teacher organizations, and assisting schools to upgrade their libraries and facilities to help students learn. ∗ Jack Weiss stopped the city from fighting environmentalists in court. As a result, the City is now reducing the trash flowing into the Los Angeles River to prevent pollution of the ocean. ∗ Jack Weiss is Greening Century City with a plan to encourage pedestrians and use of transit. The plan includes the site for a future subway stop and a shuttle to make transit a more viable option for more drivers. He was a strong supporter of Prop R to improve transit in the region. ∗ Jack Weiss received the Award for Public Service from the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters for his leadership on environmental issues. He is President of the Santa Monica Bay Watershed Council and served four years as chair of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission. ∗ Jack Weiss is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, who served in the public corruption section of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles. He specialized in prosecuting corruption, civil rights and violent crime cases. ∗ Jack Weiss earned his Law Degree at UCLA, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Law Review. He was an Honors graduate at Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs. ∗ Jack Weiss received the Humanitarian Award from the LA Commission on Assaults Against Women and was honored by the LA County Sexual Assault Coordinating Council for his leadership in reforming how DNA is used to catch and prosecute rapists. ∗ As Chair of the L.A. City Council Public Safety Committee, Jack Weiss wrote “Preparing Los Angeles for Terrorism -- a 10-Point Plan” a comprehensive plan to ensure that the City’s firefighters, police, and residents are able to respond to any type of disaster including an earthquake, fire, or other large scale emergency.
