Divine Mercy Sunday A big Thanks to Nilo and Phyllis for praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Divine Mercy Sunday. Please go to our website and consider praying the Chaplet. The Chaplet can be found under "Masses and Reflections". Fr. Dan's health As you may have heard Fr Dan contracted the Covid virus early in the Stay At Home Order. He had a mild case, no fever, just a bad cough. Fortunately, he was already self isolating at the time and didn't expose anyone here at St Angela's. This past week I talked to Fr Dan, he sounded very positive and is expected to make a full recovery. You can mail him a card at P.O. Box 2224, Glendora, CA 91740. Live Streaming I was very excited to hear we had well over 1,300 people view our on-line Easter Services! Sunday Masses can be seen live Sunday mornings at 8:30 (English) and 10:00 (Spanish) via livestream from our empty church on our website (stangelabreachurch.org/mass),on YouTube (youtube.com/c/StAngelaMericiCatholicChurch), or on FaceBook (facebook.com/stangelabreachurch).You can also go to our website to view Sunday Masses, homilies, bulletins, current updates, and much more. On-line donations Before Covid our on-line donations were about $3,000.00 a week. While our total contributions are still very low, the number of people using our on-line system has more than doubled. If you're not using our on-line donation services, I encourage you to please consider on-line giving. It is an easy, safe, and convenient way to continue to support our parish. Just go to our web site at stangelabreachurch.org. If you donate using the parish envelopes or checks, please send your donation in the mail. Your generosity is always appreciated. Project status Two of the projects we paid for in 2018 and 2019 from our PSA and Fund a Need campaigns are being completed. Our beautifully refurbished church doors are slowly being installed. Thanks Ron. We also installed some of the remaining sound and video system equipment which has enabled us to do live streaming. Thanks Jason and Jim. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. May God continue to richly bless you and your family, Fr. Dave Fifth Sunday of Easter Throughout the Easter season, we hear the story of the earliest Christian commu- nities in readings from the Acts of the Apostles. We hear how the people grap- pled with what it meant to place their faith and trust in the Lord, understanding that doing so called them to live differently—to follow Jesus’ way of love. This is more than a history lesson for us. As we hear how the people were drawn to Christ and learned to follow Jesus, we are invited to ask ourselves how fully we are taking the gospel to heart. Is Jesus our way, truth, and life? Do our daily ac- tions announce the praises of the Lord? CHANGE OF MIND AND HEART FROM NOW ON During Lent, we participated in penitential practices and focused on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in order to turn our lives more fully to the Lord. However, the fruit of our Lenten practices is not supposed to end on Good Friday or Easter Sunday. Lent is our annual time to embrace spiritual renewal, which is intended to last. The change of mind and heart that we embraced in the weeks preced- ing Easter are to be our spiritual foundation, shaping our lives now and into the future. Pause for a moment and ask yourself what difference Lent made for you this year. If you can point to some particular change of mind, heart, or behav- ior, promise yourself that you will continue to live in this new way in the months and years to come. If Lent did not have a special impact on your life this year, now is the time to invite the Lord to show you the way to more meaningful and faith-filled living in the future. DON’T BE AFRAID. DO THE WORKS OF CHRIST In the Gospel passage we heard today, Jesus was preparing the apostles for a time when he would not be with them physically. Jesus wanted to reassure the apostles, even though he knew they were having a difficult time understanding. We sometimes struggle to grasp the Lord’s ways, too. We know that God is with us in Christ through the Holy Spirit, and yet, when we really have to act in ac- cord with our faith, we sometimes falter. Jesus tells us to not be afraid. Have faith in Christ and do his works. We may be surprised at what we are able to do when we trust and follow Jesus’ way. And we are assured that God will be with us through it all. Copyright © J. S. Human Interest Luke Rivera Luke Rivera, a member of the Youth Ministry, a senior at Bishop Amat High School, and alumnus from St. Angela School, is proud to announce he has been selected to be a NET missionary in the upcoming year. NET Ministries is a National Evangelization Team made up of over 175 Catholic young adults who give nine months of their life traveling across the United States sharing the gospel with young people and their families. They do this through leading retreats for middle and high school students. Since 1981, NET teams have led over 34,000 retreats and ministered to more than 2.1 million young Catholics, including our own middle school students. This is where Luke first found his inspiration to join. He plans to attend the University of Portland (Catholic University) or APU when he returns. Please pray for him and all missionaries. Each NET USA missionary is asked to raise $7,000 in ministry partnership to help cover the cost of training, transportation, etc. If you are interested in helping, please go to net.usa.org/donate and put in Luke Rivera‘s name.
