A key component in Burt’s coaching philosophy is player development. In his time at Duquesne, seven of Burt’s players have gone on to play professionally overseas: Vanessa Abel - Germany, Wumi Agunbiade - Romania, Jocelyn Floyd - Germany, Alex Gensler - Hungary, Kristi Little - Hungary, Diana Voynova - Bulgaria and Italy.

Recognized as one of the country’s top recruiters, Burt assembled a 2011 class that was ranked 38th in the nation by ESPN HoopGurlz and 47th by Blue Star Basketball. Duquesne’s class of 2013 was named the 39th-best in the nation by Blue Star Basketball.

Burt graduated from Trinity High School in Washington, Pa. prior to earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education from West Liberty State College in 1993. While a Hilltopper, Burt was a scholar-athlete award winner as a member of the men’s basketball team.

Following graduation, Burt worked as an admissions counselor at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va. for five years. He was an assistant coach with the men’s team during the 1994-95 campaign and was also a college basketball referee in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.

Burt is married to Kata Katanich-Burt, who received her MBA from Duquesne’s Donahue Graduate School of Business. The couple have two sons - Soma and Milan.

In 2009, Singleton was hired as an assistant at Oakland Catholic High School. In her three seasons with the Eagles, Singleton helped coach the team to a 62-18 (.775) record which included 33-3 (.916) record in WPIAL AAAA Section 3.
