This document also aids the membership with development and implementation of a regional plan of action, and identifying investment priorities and funding sources for the Economic Development District (EDD). The CEDS provides up-to-date demographic information for the region in order to paint a realistic picture of the current economic condition. Analyzed data was derived from the U.S. Census Bureau, the District’s Cluster Analysis, and other government agencies. It is SCIRPDC’s goal to work together with public officials, community and private sector leaders, higher education institutions, and non-profit organization in order to implement the CEDS. Ultimately, SCIRPDC envisions a living document that will not only record past efforts in economic development, but point the region in the direction that will foster the creation of a successful economy in South Central Illinois. South Central Illinois Regional Planning & Development Commission provides solutions to the challenges of local government. A multitude of programs and projects are initiated each year at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. Your regional planning commission creates the needed venue and framework to coordinate these programs and goals into a whole. It is the Commission’s function to take the goals and objectives within this document and turn them into success for the five-county EDD
