  • Race Rac Race Preview
RACERAC PREVIEWPREVIEW The second half of the 2012 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is set to get kicked off with a bang! The IWK 250 Presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body is Round Seven of 12 on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, is the first of five extra distance races in the second half of 2012 and is our biggest event of the season. Over 35 cars are expected to make an attempt to crack the prestigious field and there are many, many storylines to follow as we enter this event. Here are just a few. The biggest might be the point picture. Remember last season? Wayne Smith came into this event with a pretty healthy lead, but mechanical problems with his #44 Jetco Contracting Chevrolet Impala closed up the field as we left Riverside International Speedway. This year, Darren MacKinnon has a slim two point lead on home track favorite Donald Chisholm. Chisholm battled with Mike Stevens in the first race here in June but a flat tire defeated any chance of Chisholm taking the win. He did become a winner on the Tour a few races later when he pulled into victory lane the winner at Oyster Bed Speedway. MacKinnon was the winner of this event last season and hasn’t been back to the winner’s circle since the 2011 IWK 250! After his victory at Speedway 660, Shawn Tucker has pulled to within eight points of the lead, a position he has held thrice at the end of the season. Tucker is the only driver to win two feature races this season as he also took the Lockhart 100 at the end of June at Scotia Speedworld.

  • Race Preview Four Races on Consecutive Weekends
Race Preview Four races on consecutive weekends. Four race tracks. Four hundred feature laps. Three provinces. It all begins this weekend at Riverside International Speedway! This stretch of races for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will do a couple of things. These four races usually separate the men from the boys. You usually have drivers who begin to light it up in these four races and (com- bined with their first two races) begin to pull away in the point standings. Find yourself in a hole after these races and you only have half the season left to gain it back - and with the competition we have, you may not get the chance to do that if that point deficit is big enough. We also go to four very unique race tracks in these four races. We go to the high banks of Riverside Inter- national Speedway for the first race, the flat track at Scotia Speedworld in week two, the high banked/tight configuration of Oyster Bed Speedway in the third event and the lightning quick confines at Speedway 660 host the last event in this stretch. The driver that can come out of each of these races with a clean car and at least a top ten finish in every race will likely find themselves near the, if not at the, top of the standings after six races. So let’s set our sights on the third race on the 12 race series, the Ron MacGillivray Chevrolet Buick GMC 100 at Riverside International Speedway. It’s really hard to pick a winner, especially at a race track that has produced so many different ones in the last few years.

RaceRaceRace NotebookNotebookNotebook July 20, 2013 @ Riverside Speedway What an incredible weekend that was across the board! Everything about the IWK 250 presented by Steve Lewis Auto Body lived up to expectations and then some. Let’s first talk about the race, and what a race it was! Shawn Tucker made his move on defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Brad Keselowski with 24 to go, loosening him up enough for Keselowski to give him the inside lane. Donald Chisholm followed under Keselowski and it looked like Chisholm had what it took to finally shake the monkey off his back to win his first 250 but it was Tucker who held off all challengers for the win. While Chisholm had to come from the back after switching ignition boxes at halfway, Tucker had a top ten run going all night but turned the wick up when it counted in the second half, shadowing Keselowski for most of the second half before pulling the trigger on Lap 226. There’s no denying the #52 team and driver Tucker have held one of the hottest hands of this six race stretch. The last four races have resulted in two wins and two second place finishes and a net gain of 27 points on leader Flemming. Tucker has started the last two seasons slow but has reeled off a strong middle portion of the season. In the case of 2013, Tucker finished our first three races in 19th, 13th and 21st, which put the former three time champion 19th in the standings. He now sits third, 86 points behind Flemming.
