Andrew’s Rogan Josh Recipe Ingredients: - Garlic/Ginger paste(4 garlic cloves and about 1 inch of fresh ginger chopped if you can’t get the paste - blended with water into a paste) - 2 Tablespoons of oil - 1 lb of meat chopped into cubes (lamb is best but you can use beef or chicken) - 2 or 3 tomatoes (chopped) - 2 onions (finely chopped) - 5 cardamom pods (whole) - 4 cloves - 1 or 2 bay leaves - 5 or 6 black pepper corns - 1 and 1/2 cinnamon sticks - Good teaspoon of cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon of ground coriander - 2 teaspoons of paprika - 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper - 3 or 4 tablespoons of plain yogurt - 1/4 teaspoon of garam masala (not essential - I usually forget about it) - Juice of 1/2 a lemon Heat the oil and brown the meat cubes. Take the meat out and set it to one side. Put the bay leaves, cloves, cardamom, pepper corns and cinnamon into the oil while it’s still hot. Stir it around until the bay leaves change colour and the cloves begin to swell. Add the onions and fry for 5 minutes or so - until they turn a lovely brown colour. Add the ginger/garlic paste and stir for 30 seconds. Now add the coriander, cumin, cayenne and paprika and stir for another 30 seconds. Return the meat and its juices to the pan and stir for 30 seconds. Add the tomato and after a minute or so add 1 tablespoon of yogurt. After stirring in the yogurt until it’s well blended, add the rest of the yogurt. -

Based on some evidence on the characteristics of fenugreek as a medical plant with anti-inflammato- ry and analgesic properties, this double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled trial was conducted. The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of fenu- greek seeds on the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among students. Methods: Unmarried Students were randomly assigned to two groups who received fenugreek (n=51) or placebo (n=50). For the first 3 days of menstruation, 2−3 cap- sules containing fenugreek seed powder (900 mg) were given to the subjects three times daily for two consecutive menstrual cycles. It has been reported to be an excellent galactagogue for some mothers, and has been used as such for centuries. The few studies that have been done have had mixed results [Swafford 2000, Reeder -pharmaceutical methods of increasing milk supply should be tried first, as there can be significant side effects from both herbal remedie2011, Turkyılmazs and prescription 2011] . Ginger-Garlic Chicken by Mary Anne Mohanraj, featured in A Feast of Serendib: Recipes from Sri Lanka This is my daughter’s favorite chicken dish, and one she always greets with delight; she started eating it when she was about five, with no added chili powder. Over time, I’ve added a little more chili powder when feeding it to both kids, serving with milk to help them along; you can also use black pepper if you’d prefer. The timing on this is variable because you can either do it the long way described below, the way my mother recommends, which is definitely a bit tastier—or you can do a much faster version, where you mix the spices with the chicken, skip the marinating, and then sauté the chicken in the pan on medium-high until cooked through, then serve. I use both methods, mostly depending on how much of a hurry I’m in. Regardless of which method you use, this dish is best served fresh; if it sits, the chicken will tend to get dry and not be as tasty. Preparation time: 30-90 minutes Ingredients • 1 heaping teaspoon ginger powder • 1 heaping teaspoon garlic powder • 1 heaping teaspoon turmeric • 1 teaspoon salt • 12 chicken thighs, about 2 pounds, deboned and cut bite-sized • Vegetable oil for frying • ½ to 2 heaping teaspoons red chili powder (to taste, optional) Process 1. Chicks were fed by basal diet as control diet ,2% ginger (T 1), 2% black pepper (T 2) and 1% ginger + 1% black pepper powders (T 3).At the end of trial 4 birds form each group were slaughtered. In addition feed intake (FI), body weight gain (BW), feed Conversion ratio (FCR) were compared together. Some blood parameters such as Calcium, Phosphorus, Cholesterol and Triglyceride were determined. And they were taken for antibody titer against new castle vaccine evaluation on 22, 36 and 42 days old chicks. Data showed that use of T 1, T 2 and T 3 increased FI significantly in comparison to control diets (p<0.05). Chicks were fed with T 2 diet was higher BW among others groups. Data from this study showed that amounts of triglyceride were lower when chicks used T 3 diets and cholesterol was lower in T 1 group. -

Fateh .O .Kadhim / Veterinary Medicine College- Kerbala University Abstract : This study conducted to determine the effect of dietary mint, fenugreek and combination on productive and immune parameters of broiler chicks (Ross308).A total of 80 broiler chicks of one day old have been reared for 35 day under good hygienic condition .The chicks were randomly divided into four groups :Treatment 1 (Mint 1%) ,Treatment 2 (fenugreek 1% ) ,Treatment 3 (Mint 1%+ fenugreek 1%) & Treatment 4(Control), each of one have 2o chicks with 2 replicate for each treatment .the addition of dry leaves of Mint and fenugreek started at one day until end of experiment, while the control group given the standard feed only .the productive parameters are measured weekly, and immune status of chicks are measured at 21 and 35 day by ELISA technique. The results have appeared that there is an improvement in performance and immunity traits for all treated groups if compared with the control group. However, the chicks feed with 1% mint and 1% fenugreek performed better than those fed with others concerning live body weight and body weight gain. with regards to feed consumption, the first treatment that supplemented with 1% mint achieved better one. the second treatment that supplemented with 1% fenugreek recorded high antibody titter against Newcastle disease virus and Gumboro disease virus at 21 and 35 day of broilers age .
