Designed to help achieve RB's global commitment to support a more sustainable future, including the reduction of product packaging and eliminating waste through innovation, the RB Health & Nutrition Recycling Program was created to collect, process and make all health and nutrition packaging nationally recyclable. As part of the initiative, the RB Health & Nutrition Recycling Program will accept packaging waste not only from RB products, but from any brand of vitamins and supplements, upper respiratory, sexual health & well-being, as well as infant formula & child nutrition, personal care and foot care including: • Vitamins, minerals and supplements packaging (Ex: MegaRed & Airborne): blister packs, tubes, bottles, cans, boxes, caps and lids • Sexual health and well-being packaging (Ex: K-Y & Durex): tubes, bottles, wrappers, cans, boxes, caps and lids • Cough, cold, flu, sore throat, and nasal care packaging (Ex. Mucinex & Delsym): bottles, tubes, spray bottles, blister packs, caps and lids • Infant formula and child nutrition packaging (Ex: Enfamil): tubs, bottles, wrappers, cans, boxes, cap, and lids • Personal care and foot care packaging: tubes, bottles, caps, lids, and other plastic packaging Participation in the program is easy; simply sign up for the RB Health & Nutrition Recycling Program at terracycle.com/rb-health and mail in the packaging waste using the prepaid shipping label. Once received, TerraCycle will clean and melt the collected product packaging into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products. As an added incentive, for every shipment of packaging waste sent to TerraCycle, collectors earn points that can be used for charity gifts or converted to cash and donated to a non-profit, school or charitable organization of their choice. The launch of the free recycling program comes at an especially relevant time - as the weather gets colder, we find ourselves in peak cold and flu season. In fact, every year, adults have an average of 2-3 colds—with children having even more—and last year's flu season turned out to be the longest in a decade for the United States. While symptoms of these illnesses can be alleviated using a variety of over the counter (OTC) cold, cough and flu products, like Mucinex, their packaging leaves the planet with 55 million pounds of previously non-recyclable plastic every year. That's equivalent in weight to nearly 5,000 elephants! "Health products help stuffy noses, hungry babies, joints and brains, and even complexions. But for all the good health and nutrition products do for consumers, their packaging leaves the planet with millions of pounds of non-recyclable plastic per year, and RB wants to help stop that," said Nitish Kapoor, Executive Vice President, RB North America Health Brands. "That's why we're teaming up with TerraCycle to provide millions of consumers with the ability to recycle all health and infant nutrition packaging for free. Because RB knows that healthy consumers deserve a healthy planet." "Since our founding, TerraCycle has made it our objective to 'Eliminate the Idea of Waste' by recycling the unrecyclable and diverting waste from landfills and local communities," said Tom Szaky, TerraCycle CEO. "By accepting all brands of health and nutrition packaging and not just their own, RB is truly rising to the occasion and combating the single use packaging epidemic." RB Health & Nutrition Recycling Program is open to any interested individual, school, daycare, fitness facility, healthcare office, office, or community organization. • RB Partners with Veolia to Drive a Circular Plastics Economy
RB partners with Veolia to drive a circular plastics economy Reckitt Benckiser (RB) and Veolia have today announced their partnership to drive the shift to a circular plastics economy. The partnership with Veolia is another step RB is taking to fulfil its pledge to make 100 percent of its plastic packaging recyclable and to contain at least 25 percent recycled content by 2025. Veolia and RB started working together two years ago to work on increasing the use of postconsumer recycled plastic in RB’s packaging. The first offering from the partnership is the new packaging for Finish Quantum. The packaging now contains 30% recycled plastic and is proudly grey in colour because RB has decided not to add masking pigments or additives to the packaging. The companies will continue their collaboration on designing for recyclability and the maximization of post-consumer recycled content. To accelerate the circular plastics economy, a team of 20 experts from RB and Veolia are also working to develop enhanced collection systems, driving behaviour change to aid consumer sorting habits and improving recycling from households. “The partnership between Veolia and RB Hygiene Home brings together our complementary capabilities to drive a positive contribution to the circular economy. We have just started the journey by increasing recycled content and improving recyclability and are excited about the wider opportunities across our value chains”, says Fabrice Beaulieu, EVP Marketing, R&D and Sustainability for RB Hygiene Home. “We are delighted to be collaborating with RB on this ongoing strategy to reduce their environmental footprint. We are working hand-in-hand with RB to develop packaging with greater recycled content and improved recyclability for the RB group’s consumers,” says Antoine Frérot, Chairman and CEO of Veolia.

Moreover condom availability has increased dramatically since the global emergence of the AIDS pandemic in the 1980s, adding to the already fervent social stigmatization and political contentions on morality, sexuality, and wellbeing that condom use brings. This paper focuses on the strategically joint-relationship between manufacturing firms and governments to foster distinct profit-oriented condom social relations and moral-symbolic regimes of sexual cultures. Proposing a sex-situated theory of capitalist firms, the paper examines the crucial social aspect of condom production, focusing on the changes in the condom manufacturing industry from its initial colonial- “warfare” period (1880s-1930s), its period of massive welfare-state expansion (1940s- 1970s), and its recent neoliberal consolidation (1980s-2000s). IIMC-CRC-2015-09 IIMC CASE RESEARCH CENTRE (IIMCCRC) PRASHANT MISHRA, TINU JAIN MARCH 2014 DUREX IN INDIA: THE CATEGORY NORMALISATION CHALLENGE THE ORIGIN Reckitt Benckiser, a British multinational consumer goods company, has brands like Dettol (the world's largest-selling antiseptic), Strepsils (the world's largest-selling sore throat medicine), Veet (the world's largest-selling depilatory brand), Air Wick (the world's second- largest-selling air freshener), Calgon, Clearasil, Cillit Bang, Durex, Lysol, and Vanish in its portfolio among many others. The company entered into the contraceptive market acquiring Durex brand globally and had started to run that business since Nov’12. Durex has been making highest quality condoms for nearly 80 years. With over 30% of the global branded condom market, it is the number 1 condom brand in the world. However despite dominant market position globally, the brand has the challenge to change the perception of Indian consumers and channel partners regarding sexual well-being (male contraceptive) to normalise the category and drive growth. The current market share of Durex is around 4%1 in India, a market which is underdeveloped compared to other markets regarding the category size and growth. The brand team acknowledges that there is a lot to be done to make the brand a formidable player in the sexual well-being (male contraceptive) category. A recent study commissioned by the Durex brand marketing team has thrown up some interesting facts about the category dynamics and challenges in marketing condom in India. Consumer Propensity Report Marketing and Merchandising Intelligence for Local Business The Consumer Propensity Report (CPR) shows the lifestyle, product, and psychographic likelihood indices for the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Major retail, restaurant, grocery, and consumer packaged goods firms use this very same information to drive marketing and merchandising decisions. Each analyzed item is assigned a propensity index score with 100 being average. For example, if the consumers within a trade score a 120 for a given analysis item you know that those consumers are 20% more likely to participate in or purchase that item than the average American household. A propensity index score of 80 would indicate that those consumers would be 20% less likely than the average American household to participate in or purchase that item. Information is provided for 32 major categories with over 4,800 total line items. Please note that line items are based upon national‐level purchasing and lifestyle characteristics. These line items are then correlated to the underlying household characteristics of the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Some line items may not be necessarily relevant or available currently in your market or region. The index score in these situations serves to indicate the degree to which the consumers would participate in or purchase that item if it were relevant and available. Often this is taken as an opportunity for expansion of a similar brand or concept within the category. CPR Categories Apparel
