Until then, my connection, as with many Ouimet supporters, was limited to donating annually to the Bag Tag Program through my golf club. The more I worked with The Fund’s long-time Executive Director, Bob Donovan, his staff and members of the Ouimet Board of Directors, the more I came to admire and respect the mission and success of this exceptional non-profit. The connection I developed with the organization’s Scholars, volunteers and staff inspired me to establish an Endowed Fund in honor of my parents, Audrey and D’Arcy Brent. A couple years ago, my mother, who was 94-years-old at the time, joined me at the annual “Investing in Lifetimes” Endowed Reception at Wellesley Country Club. We both had the chance to meet and speak with the young scholar who was the recipient of that year’s award from her and my dad’s fund. The expression of joy and fulfillment on my mom’s face was priceless, and it was a moment I will never forget. Establishing this endowed fund represented a personal financial sacrifice, but it has returned to me a hundred times over in ways I never imagined. I trust all of you listed on the pages that follow share similar feelings. Over the past decade, the number of Ouimet endowed scholarships has nearly doubled. Today, the 148 endowed funds total over $17 Million! They account for over one-third of the $2.2 million the Ouimet Fund will award to 457 Scholars in 2019. These annual awards range from $500 per Scholar to over $28,000, depending upon financial need. As successful as the growth of our endowed gifts has been, the need and demand for Ouimet Scholarships continues to increase. For this reason, I ask you to please reach out to your friends and golfing colleagues who may be in a position to endow a scholarship of their own. Those who create a Ouimet endowed fund share a common goal to give back to the game we love while honoring a friend or family member who has had a positive influence on our lives. In doing so, we are having a similar impact on the education of young men and women who become Ouimet Scholars. I know I speak for all of us involved with The Fund when I say how very grateful we are for what you have done and continue to do for the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund and our Scholars. Endowed scholarships are permanently restricted funds that are invested to ensure the existence of the scholarship in perpetuity. The program offers the donor the ability to tailor their gift and the resulting named award to suit their own philanthropic goals. Since 1991, the number of endowed scholarships invested with The Fund has grown from 5 to 148 awards. A unique quality of the Ouimet Fund Endowed Scholarship Program is that it permanently links the donor, honoree or sponsoring organization with golf, Francis Ouimet, youth and education. Every year, we are thrilled to communicate with the donors and/or honorees to let them know about the student(s) who they are helping and what makes him or her a worthy recipient. We often hear of the satisfaction they feel knowing they’ve made a difference in the life of a young
