It's a euphoric experience. I was an orientation leader for three years. I wanted to make the students know they were a special piece of GU. Plus getting to go through the serpentine four straight years was a blast." Josh White'15 Political Science & History The spirit of Jesuit ideals is infused everything we do here at Gonzaga. Our school owes its very existence to the • Jesuit passion for education. This spirit ripples outward and touches every aspect of the Gonzaga experience. The annual Pilgrimage (right) and Mass of the Holy Spirit bind us together as Zags, but more importantly as compassionate human beings. "Mass of the Holy Spirit is truly an occasion for the entire campus. I was blessed to be a part of it," said senior Vinny Sonderby (pictured below). / > 017 For the last 127 years Gonzaga has begun the new school year with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, and this year was no different. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, students, faculty and staff gathered to hear the sermon given by Bishop Blase Cupich. Cupich was the bishop of the Diocese of Spokane from 2010 until this year, when he was sleeted by Pope Francis to be the Archbishop of Chicago. The last show, called the Final Jam, was a special event on April 29 held outside on the Crosby steps and hosted 600 students. Coffeehouse averages a student audience of 200. This year Montelibano said she tried to diversify the genres, hosting a 7-piece soul band and Coffeehouse's first ever rappers. Women's Basketball Coaches Association, National Association of Basketball Coaches, Allstate announce 251 Nominees to Good Works Teams® Off-the-court award honors college basketball student-athletes for their dedication to community service INDIANAPOLIS – Dec. 3, 2014 – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and Allstate Insurance Company today announced the 251 nominees for the 2015 Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams®. This prestigious community service award recognizes a distinguished group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to enriching the lives of others and contributing to the greater good in their communities. College sports information directors and basketball coaches across the country nominated players who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to volunteerism. From the 93 WBCA nominees and 158 NABC nominees, distinguished voting panels will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA® Division I level and five student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February. “The accomplishments of student-athletes extend far beyond successes achieved on the court, and Allstate is proud to recognize this exceptional group of young women and men for the positive impact they are making in their communities,” said Pam Hollander, vice president of marketing for Allstate Insurance Company and a member of the 2015 WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams® selection panels. “Their stories of powerful and selfless acts, shared by SIDs and coaches across the nation, represent the best of collegiate student-athletes and serve as an inspiration to us all.” For the third year, the Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams® help spotlight the off-the-court good works and service to others that often goes unnoticed and unrewarded.
