Browse through the offerings and for further information, contact the respective school that is providing that program of interest to you and your child (children). 3 Summer Programs Elementary Summer Academy for Support This is a free program for all students who are enrolled as of the last day of school in a McAllen ISD school. This program will provide targeted support for students needing additional instruction to meet grade-level goals. Summer School Sites 2021: Alvarez Elem. Bonham Elem. Escandon Elem. Fields Elem. Instruction focuses on language development and essential knowledge and skills appropriate to the level of the student; and addresses the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of the English learners. Summer School Sites 2021: Fields Elem., Roosevelt Elem., Escandon Elem., Gonzalez Elem., Milam Elem. 6 Summer Programs Middle School Summer Program Accelerated Instruction To provide a summer school program for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who require additional instruction for course credit and grade promotion. The Migrant Program will provide additional support to those migrant students who attend. Grades: 6th - 8th Grade Dates: June 1-14, 2021 (Mon. - Thu.) Hours: 8 am – 2:45 pm Location: All Middle Schools Special Education and the Bilingual/ESL Department will also provide supplemental support. Please contact your campus administrator/counselor to register. 7 Summer Programs Middle School Math Enrichment Program (Virtual) Provides students an opportunity to enrich their math and problem-solving skills while developing relationships with their teachers and classmates prior to the start of the school year. Audience: Dates: July 26 - 30, 2021 (Mon. – Fri.) Students that qualified into 6th/7th Hours: 8:30 am – 11:30 am or Accelerated and Algebra Blended 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm for 2021-2022 school year. Location: All Middle Schools Please contact your campus administrator/counselor to register. 8 Summer Programs High School Summer Programs This program is designed to deliver a specific curriculum in a condensed period of time, emphasizing the mastery of the student's individual deficiency. Gold STAAR Academy Grades: 9th – 12th Locations: McAllen High School, Dates: June 1 – 21, 2021 Memorial High School, James Hours: 8 am – 2 pm “Nikki” Rowe High School, Achieve High School, Lamar Academy The Gold STAAR Academy is offered to prepare eligible End-of-Course (EOC) students to meet their graduation requirements by providing accelerated instruction before the next testing opportunity in June 2021. The Migrant Program will also provide additional support for those migrant students who attend. Special Education and the Bilingual/ESL Department will also provide supplemental support. Students work at their own pace which allows them to spend more time on challenging areas and less time where they have a fuller understanding of the material. The Language Ignition Camp will engage English learners in grades 1st - 7th in fun and interactive activities to enrich their language skills and concepts learned during the school year. Students will read, collaborate, research, experiment and explore concepts relevant to them and their education while improving their collaboration and communication skills.
