Dear Writer Member,

Enclosed is your final quarterly domestic Writer statement for the 2011 survey year, covering performances from July through September 2011.

I am pleased to announce that ASCAP collected $985 million in revenues for calendar year 2011, the second highest revenues in the organization’s history, and an increase of 5.4% over 2010. This includes a $50 million increase in foreign revenues over 2010. Our distributions to members were $824 million, marking the fourth year in a row that distributions exceeded $800 million, delivering a total of $3.3 billion to our members.

This news is clear proof that the demand for your music is enormous, and growing by leaps and bounds, both domestically and abroad. It’s also encouraging to know that ASCAP’s advocacy throughout the world is paying off. As and , we depend on the efficiencies of ASCAP to manage our performing rights in a rapidly changing global economy. ASCAP remains among the most efficient PROs in the world, with an operating expense ratio of 11.9%, down two percentage points over last year.

We recently announced our first wave of panelists and speakers for the 2012 ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, and what a phe- nomenal group it is! Our headline speakers this year include , Peter Frampton and superstar writer/producer team The Smeezingtons (, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine). Desmond Child, , Darrell Brown, Allen Shamblin, Mark Isham and Greg Wells will all hold insightful Master Sessions. Also participating is a variety of music creators from all across the genre spectrum: Walter Afanasieff, Deana Carter, Andraé Crouch, DJ White Shadow, George Duke, Toby Gad, Siedah Garrett, Sam Hollander, Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars), Hillary Lindsey, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Trevor Morris, David Paich (Toto), Heitor Pereira, , Nate Walka, , Malik Yusef and others, alongside well-known producers and veteran music industry executives. Congressman Howard Berman and Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement John Morton will participate in a forum on policy issues affecting music creators, and EXPO attendees will also be treated to intimate “in the round” performances from Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles), Brett James, Jonny Lang and , and Jane Wiedlin from The Go-Go’s, among others. For over 50 years, our ASCAP Plus Awards program has recognized writer members for substantial performances in media that are not included in performance surveys, or whose works have unique prestige value. More than 4,200 and members of ASCAP received Plus Awards in their January 2012 disbursement, totaling 2.2 million dollars. We are now accept- ing Plus Award applications for your performances in the 2011 calendar year. If you made less than $25,000 in ASCAP domestic writer royalties in 2011, you can apply online via your Member Access account. The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2012.

Please refer to this statement and the statements from July and October 2011 and January 2012, which collectively cover perfor- mances in survey year 2011, to make any claims.
