Afaak ran down the field when fancied for this race in 2018 but came back to form to run second in the Hunt Cup at 10/1. Plenty of the 2017 field ran in the Hunt Cup including the first 3 home but it was the 13th home Zhui Feng who did best when winning the race at 25/1. The 2016 renewal was transferred to the AW at Chelmsford where only 7 ran but runner up Azraff did go on to finish second in that Season's Hunt Cup at 20/1. The 2015 winner Ayaar went off the 7/1 fav for the Hunt Cup that year but could only manage 9th while the runner up Spark Plug was challenging for places when falling 100 yards from the line. In 2014 the 7th home Bronze Angel ran fourth in the 7f Buckingham Palace Handicap. Belgian Bill could only finish 15th in 2013 but went on to win the Hunt Cup on his next start at 33/1! Dream Tune ran 5th that year and second in the Buckingham Palace where Es Que Love ran 5th after finishing 11th here. Global Village was 3rd in 2012 then went on to win the Victoria Cup on his next start before finishing 4th in the Buckingham Palace as the 4/1 fav. Manassas had gone a similar route the previous year when finishing 8th-2nd-1st in the same three races, winning at Royal Ascot at 12/1. In 2009 Mias Boy was 6th but finished 3rd in the Hunt Cup at 9/1 just behind 25/1 shot Huzzah who had run 9th here at Newbury. The runner up in 2007 Royal Oath went on to win that Season's Hunt Cup at 9/1 while the third home Heaven Sent went up in trip for Royal Ascot to finish second in the Wolferton Handicap and the 8th place finisher Fajr ran second in the Buckingham Palace Stakes. Eden Rock managed 5th both here and in the Buckingham Palace in 2006. RACE 5: GREENHAM STAKES – NEWBURY SATURDAY 13th APRIL – 7F (3yo Only) RESULTS: 2006 – 2018

GOSDEN 3 1 0 -0.12 RACE AS A POINTER TO ROYAL ASCOT Multiple Royal Ascot winners have come out of the Greenham Stakes with most heading for the St James Palace Stakes but it's also been a pointer for the 7f and the 2015 winner dropped down to 6f to take the inaugural running of the Commonwealth Cup (Group 1 3yo 6f).. was beaten when favouirte in 2018 but came back to form at Royal Ascot to win the Jersey Stakes at 8/1The 2017 winner Barney Roy looked a little unlucky when beaten into second in the 2000 Guineas on his next start and reversed form with the winner when taking the St James Palace Stakes at 5/2. The runner up Dream Castle was 5th in the jersey Stakes. The 2016 renewal was staged on the All Weather at Chelmsford where only 3 runners lined up. None of the three went on to run at Royal Ascot. The 2015 winner Muhaarar went on to win the new Commonwealth Cup at 10/1. The 2014 winner Kingman got beat in the 2000 Guineas by the runner up from here but at Royal Ascot reconfirmed the placings when beating that one by 2¼ lengths as the odds on favourite. The 7th home Windfast ran 4th in the Jersey Stakes at 25/1. The 2011 winner was the mighty Frankel who beat and then beat that one again at Royal Ascot when they finished 1st and 3rd in the St James Palace. Last home (6th) went on to take that years Jersey Stakes at 11/1. Dick Turpin beat in 2010 but the placings were reversed in the St James Palace Stakes when Canford Cliffs won as the 11/4JF. The 7th home in 2008 Sir Gerry returned to sprinting and ran a creditable 3rd in the Group 1 6f Sprint at 20/1. Tariq could only manage 5th of 6 here in 2007 but went on to take the Jersey Stakes at 15/2 later that Season while runner up Dutch Art managed 4th in the St James Palace Stakes. Those were the same two positions also filled by Marcus Andronicus in the same two races in 2006 while that years third home Assertive was 4th in the Jersey Stakes at 33/1.
