With winter hot on our heels, temperatures are dropping and it seems like every morn- ing greets us with a layer of frost. Even as early as November, fall had already begun giving us the cold shoulder. What does this mean for the season ahead? Whether you believe in weather predictions or not, all signs point towards snow. According to the Farmers’ Alma- nac, “The winter of 2014–2015 will see below-normal temperatures for about three-quarters of the nation.” This means that any state north of Texas should be expecting a visit from that cool and unfor- giving Jack Frost. However, that is also the outlook for America as a whole. When referring to Missouri, the Farmers’ Almanac states that “winter temperatures, precipitation, and snowfall will be below normal.” It also states that the snowiest periods are expected to be in mid-December, early February, and March. Most students are anticipating heavy snows this year. “I expect the skies to LET IT GO!” said Senior Amber Merrill. If fate falls towards these students’ predictions, then Photo by Molly Hill they should start digging out that shovel. Superstition Traditions Students make by Holly Welker Features Editor superbowl If any group has a reason to be superstitious, it’s athletes. Since their livelihoods rely on their abilities to consistently replicate physical motions, it’s hardly surprising that they often don’t want to change anything about their routines once they find success. However, some predictions take these rituals beyond their logical extremes. Jumping over the baselines when taking the field in baseball? Pretty standard. Wearing the same cup from high school on through your pro career like Mark McGwire reportedly did? Now we’re getting a little more peculiar. Here are some truly absurd superstitions among Jefferson High School athletes:

Everyone loves to watch all the performances, celebrities during halftime, the celebration of the winning team, and most of all, the entertaining commercials. There are many different kinds of fans, whether you like the team or a certain player on the team.
