Smith is an accomplished educator, nonprofit executive and speaker. She is currently the vice president for College Relations at Spelman College. Prior to assuming this role, she served as the executive director of the Spelman College Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (LEADS). The mission of LEADS is to develop and teach a leadership model based on the global experiences of African-American women leaders and others. This model requires intellectual and community engagements that improve the quality of life for women, men and children from diverse backgrounds. LEADS is an acronym for leadership development, economic empowerment, advocacy through the arts, dialogue across difference and service learning. Program thrusts fall under three categories: leadership development, civic engagement and research. Research initiatives are designed to understand and improve leadership and civic engagement program thrusts. As executive director of LEADS, Dr. Smith has had several achievements; she raised over $2.5 million to support an annual leadership conference and certificate-based programs and she served as convener of the annual conference. The certificate-based programs – including the Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Programs, Intergenerational Mentoring Program and Women of Excellence Leadership Series – were created by Dr. Smith to complement the College’s liberal arts curriculum. Additionally, she established the Girls Leadership Institute for middle school girls interested in STEM. Dr. Smith designed the Project Impact evaluation to measure service within the surrounding community, and she supervises the development of the Policy Options Bureau, positioning Spelman as a local information hub for civic engagement. She also manages special initiatives for friends of the College. Prior to joining LEADS, Dr. Smith served as president and chief executive of the National Council of Negro Women and chief executive of Business and Professional Women/USA. She also held leadership positions at The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change and The Carter Center. At The Carter Center, she was managing director of The Atlanta Project, a four- city community development initiative. Dr. Smith’s career includes membership on numerous boards, including the University of the District of Columbia, the US Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100. Dr. Smith was appointed by former President William Jefferson Clinton to the National Women’s Business Council and by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to the United Nations Beijing Plus Five Conference delegation. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Smith is a fellow of the American Council on Education and a 1980 graduate of Leadership Atlanta. Dr. Smith holds a doctorate of education in social policy analysis from Harvard University, a master’s degree in sociology from Emory University, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Spelman College, and two honorary doctorates. Dr. Smith has received awards of distinction and recognition for exemplary service, including the Emory University Alumni Medal, the American Association of University Women’s Woman of Distinction Award and the National Council of Negro Women’s President’s Award. Dr. Smith, a recognized thought leader and proud member of the baby boomer generation, has two sons and four grandchildren. 3 Top Ten Graduates of the Class of 2016 Faith E Kirkland, Biology Jayne R Rice, Biochemistry Bongeka Z Zuma, Biology Christina E Fennell, Biology Briana N Brownlow, Psychology Nadege Gitego, Biochemistry Ceciley P Scarbrough, Psychology Faith E Reid, Environmental Science Brandy S Edmondson, Economics Chelsea M Bonner, Sociology *** Perfect Records Full-Time Students with a 4.0 Grade Point Average Spring 2015 Remesh S Adams Christiauna S Draper Marveena V Hughes Mirabella N Nwaka Abiana O Adamson Amber K Edmond Nautica L Jacobs Lauren N Ruffin Kyal R Bannister Faythe S Edmunds Jazmin E Jervis Jacqueline E Schmitt Sakile A Braithwaite-Hall Jauhara I Ferguson Elissa M Joseph Sharnell S Simon Camille N Brown Quinn Forrester-Wamsley Ashley N Kirby Marie C Terry Sydney M Burrus Kyra Y Fuller Crysenith J Kirby Kyana M Waters Dayanah N Cain-Oberlton LaDarrien A Gillette Muhire H Kwizera Capricia K Wigfall Djenane M Charles Chloe C Haliburton Alaya N Martin Sydney S Williams-Kee Brittany N Davis Mya P Havard Victoria L McKeiver Christiauna S Draper Alexis A Hudson TaiDesha C Myrick Fall 2015 Abiana O Adamson Kendall Evans Muhire H Kwizera Grace G Reid Lamani D Adkins Christina E Fennell Alexia S Lakeman Brittany N Ross Brianna J Baker Melaine J Ferdinand King Denise M Lawrence Ceciley Scarbrough Kyal R Bannister Emerald P Garrett Ayana M Lindsey Melanie M Schwartz Tyra Z Beaman Mya D Gibbs Jordan A Madison Keyana N Scott Ariana N Benson Erin R Gore Sydney Mance Dominque Shorter Chelsea M Bonner Dominique Guilford Meghan K Marks Shanice N Shorts Jenai D Bostic Chloe C Haliburton Danielle A Marshall Carlisa B Simon Ariana D Brazier Taylor A Hall-Debnam Chelsi R McFarland Samanta Simpson Camille N Brown Rashonda L Hester Alicia M McKinley Jermecia D Trenell Daleesha I Cadore Kiera B Hicks Evan J McLaurin Kristen N Walker Dayanah Cain-Oberlton Candice R Holt Ataesia L Mickens Maura Washington Djenane M Charles Sydney A Hubbert Patience Mukashyaka Jimeria L Williams Brittany N Davis Shara S Hunte Maleka Nozile Keira C Williams Thomiah A Dudley Marissa Ivery-Rogers Mirabella N Nwaka Madeleine A Wood Torrie L Dunn Jaya K Johnson Bria E Paige Marica L Wright Faythe S Edmunds Ashley N Kirby Gabrielle A Price Bongeka Z Zuma Aja A Ellis Faith E Kirkland Princeanna N Price 4 Dean’s List 3.6 or Higher Grade Point Average, 15 Semester Credit Hours, No Withdrawals, No Integrity Violations, No Grade Below “C” Spring 2015 Remesh S Adams Djenane M Charles Taylor M Harrell Christy McDaniel Abiana O Adamson Salima E Clark Ayana M Hart Kierika A McFarlin Lamani D Adkins Alexis R Cole Mya P Havard Monica D McGee Maurita A Ament Alicia R Cole-Quinlan Camrie J Hendking Kelsie A McGhie Erica Anderson-Harris Brianna Cooper Amber R Hobbs Victoria L McKeiver Connie Appiah Gabrielle Corrica Amani R Holder Solange McKenzie Charity C Ashe Amber L Cowan Ellys S Holding Angelica McLendon Camara Y Atkins Madyson Crawford Alexis A Hudson Sidney McWhorter Chelsea A Bailey Nicholle C Cross Marveena Hughes Nina S Meyers Zaire A Bailey Taylor A Curry Kafi C Humphrey Tykeara A Mims Naima E Bakari Alexandria Daniels Taylor N Hutt Ciara Montgomery India S Banks Kayla D Davie Marissa Ivery-Rogers Jasmine C Moody Kyal R Bannister Ashley D Davis Damaria E Jackson Ashanna A Morris Trisha J Barton Brittany N Davis Kayla C Jackson Nautice T Myles Chonise M Bass Gabrielle B Days Nautica L Jacobs TaiDesha C Myrick Aiyana D Batton Kayla C Dean Jazmin E Jervis Sarai E Neloms Reagan D Bennett Ashley Dean Weathersby Anna E Johnson Mirabella N Nwaka Kourtney P Benton Aaliyah J Deggs Ciara M Johnson Nneka B Nwaobi Chloe A Blackmon Ropafadzo Denga Jaya K Johnson Taylor A O'Neal Haili S Blassingame Treshae J Dimes Jazette M Johnson Rachel C Oatis Chelsea M Bonner Christiauna Draper Ciara D Jones Teniola F Oke Aubree T Bowen Thomiah A Dudley Delaine S Jones Alexis L Parker Sakile Braithwaite-Hall Amber K Edmond LaShawn A Jones Simone M Paul Jordan L Branch Faythe S Edmunds Michaela P Jones Jasmine E Payne Taylor A Branch Rabiah A Elisa Elissa M Joseph Rudorwashe A Peni Dania A Brewster Christina L Evans Kelsey M Kenniel Darian C Penn Bri'Ana M Brown Cora L Evans Mekhakhem Kheperu Jaliyah A Peterson Camille N Brown Neah S Evering Ashley N Kirby Lexus K Phillips Jonell D Brown Andrenise D Faust Crysenith J Kirby Djenny G Pierre Meredith C Brown Chelesa T Fearce Faith E Kirkland Chelsie E Poindexter Naija G Brown Melaine J Ferdinand-King Muhire H Kwizera Jahcie A Ray Briana N Brownlow Jauhara I Ferguson Tiara E Lacey Chelsie B Raymond Dynasty M Bryan Lauren T Fleming Taylor N Ladson Carmen S Reid Maya L Bryant Joi E Fletcher Alexia S Lakeman Faith
