  • Pioneering Cultural Initiatives by Esalen Centers for Theory
Esalen’s Half-Century of Pioneering Cultural Initiatives 1962 to 2012 For more information, please contact: Jane Hartford, Director of Development Center for Theory & Research and Special Projects Special Assistant to the Cofounder and Chairman Emeritus Michael Murphy Esalen Institute 1001 Bridgeway #247 Sausalito, CA 94965 415-459-5438 i Preface Most of us know Esalen mainly through public workshops advertised in the catalog. But there is another, usually quieter, Esalen that’s by invitation only: the hundreds of private initiatives sponsored now by Esalen’s Center for Theory and Research (CTR). Though not well publicized, this other Esalen has had a major impact on America and the world at large. From its programs in citizen diplomacy to its pioneering role in holistic health; from physics and philosophy to psychology, education and religion, Esalen has exercised a significant influence on our culture and society. CTR sponsors work in fields that think tanks and universities typically ignore, either because those fields are too controversial, too new, or because they fall between disciplinary silos. These initiatives have included diplomats and political leaders, such as Joseph Montville, the influential pioneer of citizen diplomacy, Jack Matlock and Arthur Hartman, former Ambassadors to the Soviet Union, and Claiborne Pell, former Chairman of the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee; eminent Russian cultural leaders Vladimir Pozner, Sergei Kapitsa, and Victor Erofeyev; astronaut Rusty Schweickart; philosophers Jay Ogilvy, Sam

  • {PDF EPUB} Free Willy the Shark Master Based on Episodes of the New Animated Series from Warner Bros
Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Free Willy The Shark Master Based on Episodes of the New Animated Series from Warner Bros. by Ann M Free Willy (TV series) This television series was produced by Warner Bros. Television, Regency Enterprises and the Canadian company Nelvana for Warner Bros. Studios. The show, which aired for one season (1994) on American Broadcasting Company (ABC), continues the adventures of the orca Willy and Jesse, the boy who freed him from captivity as shown in the film. In retrospect, the series also anticipates multiple plot elements of the film sequel, Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home , released the following summer. The overarching conflict is reminiscent of Moby-Dick : a powerful oil baron, known to the main characters only as a cyborg called "The Machine" until the final episodes, loses his arm and part of his face to Willy while committing an environmental atrocity and wants revenge upon "that rotten whale. and his boy". Contents. Jesse, age 14, has been adopted by his foster parents, the Greenwoods, and they have moved from Seattle to the Pacific coast. He is given a job at the Misty Island Oceanic Reserve, a local wildlife rescue and research institute where Randolph, his Native American mentor from the movie, now works. In the first episode, Jesse discovers he has the ability to talk to animals and understand their speech; Randolph, a Haida, explains that he is a Truth Talker. This revelation allows for Willy and the other sea creatures featured in the show to have full personalities and more prominent roles in key plot events.

New On Video & DVD Reno 911: Miami Comedy Central’s cult-favorite COPS-spoof series, RENO 911! comes to the big screen with RENO 911!: MIAMI. The film follows members of the Reno P.D. as they desert the bright flashing lights of the biggest little city in the world for sand and surf and an invitation to the annual police officers’ convention. It will come as no surprise to regular RENO-watchers that the incompetent police force--led by the earnest, hot-pants-wearing Lt. Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon)--hit an administrative snag, and aren’t allowed into the convention. But the crew decides to make the most of their multi-hour bus trip to Florida, until an emergency call to duty cuts their impromptu vacation short: they are expected to keep the peace in Miami while the rest of the nation’s police forces are quarantined due to a biochemical warfare attack on the convention center. Finding themselves way out of their league in a high-tech police station and Mustang patrol cars, the Reno cops ineptly stumble through Miami, leaving destruction and hilarity in their wake. Fox The Secret Nimh Don Bluth's The Secret Of NIMH is an exquisitely drawn, colorfully animated fea- ture about Mrs. Brisby, a brave mother field mouse who struggles to save her family's home from a farmer's plow. She soon discovers she needs the help of the strange, intelligent rats who live beneath the nearby rosebush in an intricate city. But when the timid but determined Mrs. Brisby discovers the astounding wonders of NIMH, it could change her life forever.

BATMAN TRIUMPHANT by “The Guard” 2003 Batman created by Bob Kane 2. The WARNER BROTHERS logo appears onscreen. Ominous notes sound. The logo morphs into a Bat-Emblem. Dark skies fade in around it. Brilliant blue light emanates from the Bat-Emblem, blinding us. BATMAN TRIUMPHANT FADE IN GOTHAM CITY-DUSK An aerial view of Gotham. Ancient architecture has mixed with the new millennium. The result: architecture that combines stone cathedrals and shining towers of glass and steel. Hundreds of cars, taxis, and buses cruise along the streets below, and a siren echoes from somewhere. SUPER TEXT: GOTHAM CITY CUT TO: EXT. FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF GOTHAM-DUSK A huge stone building set behind a large set of stone stairs. The bank building has a windowless exterior, with wide glass entrance doors. Several GOTHAMITES are going in and out. CUT TO: INT. FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF GOTHAM About 20 Gothamites are waiting in line in front of old- fashioned, gated bank windows. We can hear Classical music in the background. CUT TO: EXT. FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF GOTHAM-DUSK A black Hummer pulls to a perfect stop in front of the bank. Almost on cue, the doors open, and seven THUGS climb out of the Hummer. All of them wear black leather and ski masks. Two of them have submachine guns. 3. The other five have duffel bags and gas masks. The men turn as a back door on the vehicle starts to open. FADE TO: INT. FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF GOTHAM The front doors burst open and the seven thugs enter.
