García (*) RESUMEN Se describe una nueva subespecie de Pamphagidae, Eumigus punctatus calarensis, de la Sierra de Alcaraz (Albacete, España), discutiéndose sus características diferencia- les. Se presentan los datos sobre la producción de sonido y las manifestaciones acústi- cas. Se aportan nuevos datos sobre otras especies de Pamphagidae; entre ellos se discu- te la situación taxonómica de Acinipe mabillei, proponiéndose su consideración como especie válida, y se presentan los primeros datos conocidos sobre producción de sonido por el método del batido de tegminas (flapping) en panfágidos ibéricos, en Eumigus punctatus punctatus. Se designan lectotipo y paralectotipo de Kurtharzia nugatoria. Palabras clave: Eumigus punctatus calarensis n. ssp., producción de sonido, Acinipe mabillei especie válida, nuevos datos sobre Pamphagidae. The neo-Y chromosomes found in several species appear to have undergone heterochromatinization and degradation, but this subject needs to be analyzed in other Pamphagidae species. We perform here karyotyping and molecular cytogenetic analyses in 12 Pamphagidae species from the center of biodiversity of this group in the previously-unstudied Anatolian plateau. Results: The basal karyotype for the Pamphagidae family, consisting of 18 acrocentric autosomes and an acrocentric X chromosome (2n♂ = 19, X0; 2n♀ = 20, XX), was found only in G. adaliae. The karyotype of all other studied species consisted of 16 acrocentric autosomes and a neo-XY sex chromosome system (2n♂♀ = 18, neo-XX♀/neo-XY♂). Two different types of neo-Y chromosomes were found. One of them was typical for three species of the Glyphotmethis genus, and showed a neo-Y chromosome being similar in size to the XR arm of the neo-X, with the addition of two small subproximal interstitial C-blocks. -

Bajo G; 10003, Cáceres (Cáceres, España) Resumen: A partir del trabajo de campo realizado en el Parque Nacional de Monfragüe y Zona Periférica de Protección (Cáce- res, España) entre diciembre de 2008 y febrero de 2011, se enumeran 22 especies de Orthoptera no halladas o citadas en el estudio previo de los autores (Llucià-Pomares & Fernández-Ortín, 2009); destaca la localización de los raros endemismos ibé- ricos, Paramogoplistes dentatus, Acinipe mabillei y Eumigus ayresi. Se confirma la presencia de Odontura macphersoni Mora- les Agacino, 1943, citada con anterioridad por Morales Agacino (1943), y se concreta la identidad taxonómica de las poblacio- nes de los géneros Gryllotalpa y Pterolepis, mencionadas con anterioridad (Llucià-Pomares & Fernández-Ortín, 2009) como Gryllotalpa sp. y Pterolepis spoliata ssp., respectivamente. Para cada una de las 22 especies, se detalla su distribución gene- ral, ibérica, extremeña y en Monfragüe, aportándose información sobre su ecología y biología. Se recoge, por último, la infor- mación faunística más relevante obtenida de las 53 especies enumeradas en el estudio de 2009, y se subsanan algunos erro- res de dicho estudio. SCHMIDT † (*), ANA PAULA MArtINHO (**) and MARIA ROSA PAIVA (**) INTRODUCTION For the Iberian Peninsula, most faunistic studies of Saltatoria refer to Spanish populations. The orthopteroid fauna of Portugal is still poorly known. In the first half of the 20th century, De Seabra (1942) presented the first survey of the Portuguese Saltatoria, as well as a list of the litera- ture then available, including a study of the orthopteran species of Setúbal Peninsula (Cordeiro 1914) and a list of the species kept at the museum of the University of Coimbra, with an identification key (Aires & Me- nano 1916). Ebner (1941) reported on 40 species found at Monchique. Fernandes (1959a, 1959b, 1960) found some species new for the Por- tuguese fauna; since then, no intensive survey was carried out in Portugal. However, Harz published two valuable books entitled “The Orthoptera of Europe” (1969, 1975), in which the Orthopteroidea (Ensifera and Caelif- era) of Portugal were related to the European fauna. Schmidt & Lilge (1997) reported on the distribution of the subfamily Oedipodinae in Eu- rope and adjacent regions, discussing the orgin of some species. Ragge & Reynolds (1998) added the male songs to the morphology and distribution of the western European species, as a further species-specific character, but without checking the Portuguese populations, except for Callicrania selligera (Charpentier), syn. Platystolus (Neocallicrania) selliger (Char- pentier) (compare Pfau 1996). Furthermore, two short notes were recent- ly published on grasshoppers found in the province of Baixo Alentejo by Gonzáles Garcia (1985) and Hochkirch (1999). -

Girfildez Departamento de Genbtica, Facultad de Biologia, Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain Abstract The karyotypes of 47 Spanish acridoid grasshoppers have been analyzed by means of C-banding in both mitotic and meiotic cells. The most frequent location of C-heterochromatin occurs in centromeric and telomeric regions whereas interstitial C-bands are very scarce. No clear relationship between similarities in C-banding patterns and taxonomic proximity has been found. Negatively heteropycnotic regions are described; their uniform location and distribution suggest that they could represent a functional chromosome structure as nucleolar organizers. Data on karyotypes of P. guentheri and Z. elegans are reported here for the first time. All species have karyotypes consisting of 19 acrocentric chromosomes in males and 20 acrocentric chromosomes in females (2n♂=19, NF=19; 2n♀=20, NF=20) and X0/XX sex determination system. -
