Remembrance Day

We remember for 100 years now. The soldiers have left to fight for our lives, they saved our country. A soldier has written a poem and has passed it to on to us.

Remembrance Day is all about remembering who saved our country and risking their lives all for us, otherwise we wouldn’t even have peace right now at this we would all be in great danger. That’s why the soldiers went to save our country. On November 11 every year we have a moment of silence to remember.

Pierre's Pearls of Wisdom Cher Pierre,

I am totally stressed out! Someone took a really bad picture of me at school and SnapChatted it to all my friends. It made me feel terrible. I feel like everyone is talking about me and laughing at me now. I can’t sleep at night and I cry lots. What should I do?

Sincerely,

Sick of SnapChat http://visuals.autism.net/main.php?g2_itemId=138

Dear Sick of SnapChat,

This is certainly a challenge with mean-spirited people and social media, but I can help you! First of all, know that no one with a heart is laughing at you or talking about you. Most people have enough respect to understand that they would not want that to happen to them so they will not do this to other people.

I think you need to tell an adult, if you have not already. The

SnapChatter was not following school rules about cell phone use http://www.xistinchrist.nl/index.php/2015/07/08/how-much-exercise-do-you-need/ so Mrs. Vanstone or Mrs. Smith need to know about your experience. The staff at LVS want to keep EVERYONE safe and they want everyone to feel respected! Talking to a trusted adult Talk to a Trusted Adult! with help take the load that is on your mind. Do you know how to take a screenshot? If so, take one if this type of thing ever happens again. If you don’t know how to screenshot, then ask a friend how to do it. You can use it as evidence when you talk to the adult. Adults can also help pick some strategies to help you sleep at night too, like Square Breathing, exercising or talking to a friend.

Here are some steps for you to follow:

1. Tell an adult if you know someone has taken a picture of you without your permission https://tp053.k12.sd.us/asking%20adults%20for%20help.htm

2. If the picture is shared on Social media, screenshot it Tell yourself...

3. Talk to a trusted adult and share the screenshot

A word map is a visual organizer that promotes vocabulary development. Using a graphic organizer, stu- dents think about terms or concepts in several ways. Most word map organizers engage students in de- veloping a definition, synonyms, antonyms, and a picture for a given vocabulary word or concept. En- hancing students' vocabulary is important to developing their reading comprehension.
