As help you dip your toes into a little of everything, here is a festival, of course, we have already had to embrace Stewart Collins’ suggestion for a festival in 12 events: the so-called ‘new normal’ and the 2020 festival will Thursday 15 July remain in a lot of people’s memories as something of a Jess Gillam Ensemble beacon in the midst of trying times. But here we are in 2021 so what can we look forward to? Certainly as far Friday 16 July as the Petworth Festival is concerned, the answer is ‘a The Bloomsbury Quartet – ReCentred: Elizabeth Maconchy lot!’ Happily, we have been able to forge a programme (pay as you wish event) that celebrates the finest in performance, much as Sunday 18 July we have over the last 40 years, and over the next few Genesis Sixteen (choral) pages you will hopefully be overjoyed to see some of the gems that lie in store for us this coming summer. Tuesday 20 July Mark Padmore (tenor) and Imogen Cooper (piano) We look forward to you joining us in person again, though to this effect there will be a few changes Wednesday 21 July that reflect both the old and the new. To ensure the The Dominic Alldis Trio - A Tribute to maximum comfort and safety of our audiences, Jacques Loussier (jazz) thorough cleaning of all our venues will be the rule, Thursday 22 July and we will not be packing them out quite as before. The Music of Paul Simon - A Celebration To this end we are capping the capacity of all our indoor venues to ensure a level of social distancing Saturday 24 July even if it is not specifically required by law. Having Lunchtime Concert with Lara Melda (piano) said that we are not asking our performers to reduce Sunday 25 July their fees as, frankly, they have suffered enough, but Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore to help the festival negotiate the financial impact of this move, we will be applying a modest 10% ticket Tuesday 27 July surcharge for this festival only. This surcharge has Radio Live! with Rev Richard Coles, Alistair McGowan, been incorporated into our prices and we hope you Joe Stilgoe, Charlotte Green and Garry Richardson understand our reasons. Wednesday 28 July Once again, this year’s festival wouldn’t be possible Catrin Finch (harp) with Seckou Keita (kora) without the support of our Sponsors, Patrons and Thursday 29 July Friends so we thank you all. Thank you for sticking Chineke! (chamber ensemble) with us through the thicks and thins of 2020. My colleagues and I are confident that 2021 will prove Saturday 31 July that it was all worthwhile!
