Estate Planning is utilizing the laws of wills, trusts, property, insurance, and taxes to: ensure you and your family are cared for upon your incapacity or death maximize your estate; minimize costs and taxes carry out your wishes for property disposition carry out your wishes for your health care 3 Who Needs Estate Planning? Who Needs Estate Planning? You do! Regardless of: how old you are whether or not you are married whether or not you have children whether or not you own real estate whether or not you are “wealthy” Okay, you don’t need estate planning if: you own no real estate and have less than $150,000 in assets, you don’t care who gets your stuff or if they fight about it, and you are absolutely sure you are never going to be incapacitated (I hate to break it to you, but you are going to die someday) 4 2 3/1/17 Reasons for Estate Planning
