Rappresentazioni nella realtà sociale, nel cinema e nella letteratura, e da una mostra fotografica. Questo volume raccoglie i testi dei due incontri, intitolati rispettivamente «Invecchiare a Torino. Itinerari, memorie, autorappresentazioni», a cura di Luisa Passerini, e «Le donne invecchiano. Figurazioni a confronto nella letteratura contemporanea», a ∗ cura di Luisa Ricaldone. Seguono: la presentazione della rassegna cinematografica a cura di Luciana Spina, corredata dalle schede dei dieci film in programma; la presentazione di Liliana Ellena della mostra fotografica di Marilaide Ghigliano, di cui vengono riprodotti alcuni lavori. L’interesse del CIRSDe per i temi legati alla vecchiaia e all’invecchiamento non è nuovo: nel giugno 2000, nell’ambito della rassegna Libri nuovi da sottolineare, coordinata da Edda Melon e Luisa Ricaldone, si presentò il romanzo/saggio di Luisa Passerini La fontana della giovinezza, pubblicato l’anno precedente. Ne parlarono l’autrice e Rita Cavigioli. Successivamente, nel maggio 2006, Cristina Bracchi, Cavigioli e Passerini discussero a loro volta il volume della stessa Cavigioli pubblicato negli Stati Uniti, Women of a certain Age. Contemporary Italian Fictions of female Aging (2005). Fu proprio alla fine di quell’incontro, alla presenza di un pubblico numeroso e coinvolto, che venne lanciata l’idea di rivolgersi anche al cinema per analizzare le diverse immagini dell’invecchiamento delle donne. Venne così progettata la manifestazione del 2008, a cui fu data ampia pubblicità presso la cittadinanza e la stampa locale. L’intento della manifestazione era di combinare approcci e competenze molto diverse, non solo quelle delle discipline letterarie e storico-sociali, ma ∗ Nella sezione letteraria mancano gli interventi di Valeria Gennero e di Anna Nadotti, relativi rispettivamente alla letteratura nordamericana e a quella indiana, e il racconto di Maria Viarengo. Viceversa diamo spazio agli articoli di due studiose, Rita Cavigioli e Hanna Serkowska, che non poterono partecipare di persona all’incontro, e a una bi- bliografia commentata di romanzi (e di qualche saggio) sull’invecchiamento. 2 Presentazione anche quelle delle arti visive, per far emergere la complessità delle rappresentazioni della vecchiaia delle donne. L’esperienza di aver organizzato quell’insieme di eventi e di aver ascoltato alcuni interventi fatti dal pubblico in quell’occasione è stato per noi un momento di riflessione e autoriconoscimento, che vorremmo condividere con altre-i attraverso la pubblicazione che ora presentiamo. Una parte delle nostre intenzioni è ben espressa dall’immagine che scegliemmo per illustrare il programma, l’Autoritratto di Alice Neel, di cui è possibile prendere visione sul sito http://www.aliceneel.com/gallery/?mod e=display&decade=8. Non prevedevamo le polemiche che ne sarebbero seguite. La segreteria del CIRSDe ci segnalò alcune telefonate di persone che giudicarono sconvenienti sia il titolo Vecchie allo specchio sia l’immagine. Per noi era evidente il senso politico nella scelta di non usare eufemismi – anziane, vecchiette e simili – per definire una fase della vita delle donne che ha subìto e continua a subire grandi manipolazioni culturali e politiche; mentre la tela rappresenta la vecchiaia senza indulgenze, senza infingimenti, in modo «spietato», come ha commentato una delle donne che hanno criticato il titolo. Proprio per questo l’avevamo scelta, perché ci interessava contribuire a vedere (e a far vedere) la nostra vecchiaia senza farci troppe illusioni, ma anche senza nascondere le forme di libertà e di coraggio che l’invecchiamento consente. La libertà di considerare se stesse così come siamo diventate, non essendo schiave della nostalgia per essere state belle e attraenti. Il coraggio dell’autoironia, ma anche della riaffermazione di avere conservato e affinato delle competenze, come indica il pennello brandito con decisione. Molti altri nudi di Alice Neel non sono meno impietosi di questo e alcuni alludono all’invecchiamento, ma non sono autoritratti; manca quindi in essi il discorso dello specchio, fondamentale per noi e in generale per le donne che invecchiano. Non abbiamo dimenticato la leggenda della contessa di Castiglione, che velò tutti gli specchi della sua casa quando vide sul suo volto bellissimo la prima ruga, né il lamento di Simone de Beauvoir quando scrisse: «questa cosa che è diventata la mia faccia», e neppure l’ostinato negarsi di Greta Garbo agli sguardi avidi o adoranti, per nascondere quel che restava di un mito. Reggere il confronto con la propria immagine attuale è una prestazione difficile e complessa, in particolare per 3 la generazione cui noi curatrici apparteniamo, sia pure con età diverse: la generazione delle femministe degli anni settanta, dette «storiche», spesso inclini al reducismo e al narcisismo. Ma questa prestazione può essere fatta con leggerezza e ironia, che non escludono una severità disincantata, quale traspare nel volto dell’autoritratto. Alice Neel, nata nel 1900 a Philadelphia, lo dipinse nel 1980, quattro anni prima di morire. Da più di quarant’anni si era trasferita dal quartiere dell’avanguardia newyorkese, il Greenwich Village, a Harlem, dove avrebbe raffigurato la comunità portoricana, e attivisti del movimento delle donne e del movimento nero. Nel dipinto noi vediamo non solo ironia, ma anche provocazione ammiccante e tenera; la lucidità dello sguardo e la consapevolezza della grandezza artistica, o solo la grandezza dell’esistere; di certo ci pare che esso illustri la vecchiaia nel rapporto fra corpo e ingegno. Al termine del lavoro di cura, desideriamo ringraziare vivamente il CIRSDe e in particolare le sue componenti che furono allora attive nell’organizzare la manifestazione, Franca Balsamo, Anna Chiarloni, Silvia Inaudi, Federica Turco, e gli enti che la sostennero, la Città di Torino, l’Ateneo torinese e l’Unione Culturale. Speriamo di aver restituito almeno in parte la vivacità e l’autoriflessione che animarono Vecchie allo specchio. Esistono oggi numerosi programmi di Master in Age Studies, mentre si sono moltiplicate le pubblicazioni in varie lingue e si è estesa la gamma di discipline interessate al tema, che stanno apportando nuovi contributi e aprendo nuove prospettive di ricerca.1 Tutto ciò rispecchia una crescente attenzione alle questioni più generali legate alle età e alle generazioni, specialmente là dove i conflitti intergenerazionali sembrano essere più forti, nei paesi ad alto livello di sviluppo con seri problemi di occupazione qualificata. No aspect of that work is more important or central to our mission than assuring that the CFRE credentialing process provides a valid and reliable standard for knowledge of best practices in ethical fundraising at the five-year level of professional experience . In January 2016 CFRE International assured the continued reliability of the CFRE credentialing programme with the successful launch of updated eligibility and application Marnie Hill, CFRE requirements for CFRE certification . These changes reflect the CFRE Chair, 2016 maturation of our fundraising profession and the profession’s global nature .
