Programming Hubs

Festival at the Fort @ i Light Singapore by NParks 28/01/2019 – 24/02/2019, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays | Raffles Terrace, Fort Canning Park | Free Entry

Held in celebration of the rich heritage of Fort Canning, one of the most historical places in Singapore, Festival at the Fort @ i Light Singapore will highlight the life and legacy of Sir .

Visit the Raffles Terrace, which has a replica of Sir Stamford Raffles’ residence in 1822, and explore the newly planted area. Alternatively, join one of the guided tours and learn more about the stories surrounding the magnificent .

There will be activities for the whole family. Be enthralled by the visually stunning light art installations such as Land-pass Bird, Reflecting Holons and Keys of Light. In addition, enjoy the music performances by local talents as part of the programming for Keys of Light, or interact with the installation by playing a tune on the piano to create an array of magical light displays.

Various food and drinks options will also be provided at the festival. Come check out the kiosks and picnic under the stars!

Enjoy a series of memorable piano recitals by local music talents who combine their artistry with the technical virtuosity of this light art installation.

Featured pianists include –

 Singapore Management University (SMU) Ivory Keys – Formed in 2007 by a community of music and piano lovers, the SMU Ivory Keys feature pianists that dabble in pop, jazz, Japanese and classical music.  Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) Klaiverensemble - NP Klaiverensemble is a piano ensemble that aims to raise the standard of piano playing in NP as well as spread the beautiful music of the piano.  Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Piano Ensemble – The long-running NTU Piano Ensemble was founded in 2002, and is well known for its annual classical concert “Eleganza” held in March.  Nanyang Polytechnic Piano Ensemble (NYP) – Since its inception, the NYP Piano Ensemble has always focused on its members' musical passion and support aspiring musicians are encouraged to explore their own style and form music and performance.  National University of Singapore Piano Ensemble (NUSPE) – Founded in 1987 by undergraduates with a passion for the piano and performing, NUSPE plays a repertoire of duet and duo pianos with eclectic influences like jazz and contemporary pop.

Eco Lawn @ i Light Singapore 28/01/2019 – 24/02/2019 | The Lawn @ Marina Bay | Free Entry

Eco Lawn @ i Light Singapore will take centre stage at The Lawn @ Marina Bay, where environmental sustainability, fitness and social good come together. Anchored by City Gazing Singapore, a sprawling light art installation that suspends in mid-air, the hub will also host upcycling workshops, pop-up booths that retail eco-friendly products, yoga and wellness activities, and film screenings under the stars.

Join us at the Terra Village for the biweekly Upcycling Workshops, where one can learn how to transform ordinary waste objects into unique upcycled products such as bedside lamps and quirky pop-art wallets.

This is a perfect opportunity for families to learn and bond together while doing your part to save the Earth. Pre-registration is required.

Mass Yoga 15/02/2019 | 7pm – 8pm | Free

Grab a mat and be one of the 500 participants to be part of an exclusive, one-time-only mass yoga event in the outdoors, organised by PURE Yoga at i Light Singapore. Pre-registration is required.

Popcorn Pop-up Cinema Fridays – Sundays | Free

Indulge in an outdoor cinematic experience at i Light Singapore with Popcorn Pop-up Cinema. From classic films to blockbusters and award- winning eco-themed films, kick back, relax and enjoy the intriguing storylines amid the glittering cityscape of Marina Bay.

Alfresco dining of flavourful grilled platters and crowd-pleasing roast dinners awaits at Camp Kilo @ i Light Singapore, located at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza.

Festival-goers are also welcome to groove to eclectic soundtracks played by resident DJs at the same time, while catching up with old friends or making new ones.

Prudential Marina Bay Carnival @ i Light Singapore 28/01/2019 – 24/03/2019 | 4pm to 11pm | Bayfront Event Space | Free Entry

With 50 thrilling rides and games from Europe and around the world, Prudential Marina Bay Carnival transforms over 23,000 square metres (or four football fields) of the iconic Marina Bay area into a massive vibrant playground.

More than just a place for fun and games, the Carnival provides an opportunity for everyone to create magnificent memories, and hark back to the good old times where everyone had a wonderful time at amusement parks. There are also entertaining programmes, performances, as well as contests, from dance-in-the-public video competition to food challenges, and themed dress contests.

Credits can be purchased online or on-site for rides, games, food and beverages, and other activities. Fast track passes are also available.

Transporta @ i Light Singapore 28/01/2019 – 24/02/2019 | 7.30pm – 12am (Fridays - Saturdays), 7.30pm – 11pm (Sundays – Thursdays) | The Incubator @ | $4 per entry

Inspired by the Big Bang theory and the birth of the Universe, Transporta @ i Light Singapore invites visitors to journey through the beginning of space, light, matter and time by casting spotlight on the ‘Quark’ – a fundamental particle of matter.

Through gamification, multimedia, sound effects and projection mapping, the immersive space reacts to interactions by visitors as they enter from one space to another to learn the quirky characteristics of the quarks including how they form light. Other Highlights

Student performers from Republic Polytechnic’s CREATE Republic will turn Marina Bay into an exciting and vibrant stage with their electric performances for an evening. With acts by Beats Encore (percussion ensemble), Capoeira, RP Seni Silat, Wushu Warriors and Style Groovaz Crew, the precinct is set to be enlivened with energy and passion from our youths.

Le Petit Chef 28/01/2019 – 24/02/2019 | 6.30pm – 10.30pm | La Brasserie @ The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore | $188++/pax

The Fullerton Heritage is proud to present the world’s smallest chef, as featured in restaurants in cities ranging from Dubai to London, which will make its debut in Singapore.

Witness the ordinary dinner table come to life as the virtual Le Petit Chef busily prepares and serves an exquisite four-course meal directly to one’s plate, made possible with the combination of cutting-edge 3D projection technology, storytelling and top-class cuisine and ingredients.

Available for a limited period, the immersive Le Petit Chef experience at La Brasserie at The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore sits five to eight diners.

Straw Free @ i Light Singapore 28/01/2019 – 24/02/2019 | Festival-wide + Partners

In collaboration with Straw Free Singapore, i Light Singapore will launch Straw Free @ i Light Singapore in partnership with various establishments in the vicinity to encourage the reduction of single-use plastic straws during the Festival.

Festival-goers can look out for sticker and poster displays indicating the level of straw-free support at various establishments:

Level 1 - where patrons are encouraged to go straw-free but straws are still provided for use Level 2 - where plastic straws are available only upon request Level 3 - where alternatives (such as metal straws) are provided instead of plastic straws

An educational booth is also available at the Eco Lawn @ i Light Singapore for festival-goers to pledge their support, as they learn about the efforts by Straw Free Singapore to help reduce waste and .

Guided and Self-Guided Tours 28/01/19 – 24/02/19 i Light Singapore Hybrid Tour Fridays, Saturdays | 7.30pm, 9pm | Up to 40 pax per session | $30 per pax

Organised in partnership with Oriental Travel & Tours, i Light Singapore presents a hybrid tour on foot and by boat to orientate visitors around the Festival. Participants will start with a walking tour through the bustling Marina Bay as they visit Eco Lawn @ i Light Singapore and enthralling artworks such as Sails Aloft, a large-scale holographic light art installation set in the waters! This is followed by a 40-minute cruise across Marina Bay and to admire some of Singapore’s most iconic bridges transformed into monumental works of art for the very first time at the Festival. Organised in partnership with Monster Day Tours, i Light Singapore presents a walking tour around the Festival that brings visitors through the curatorial theme ‘Bridges of Time’. The tour will cover five iconic bridges in Singapore’s city centre – Jubilee Bridge, , Anderson Bridge, Cavenagh Bridge and Elgin Bridge – transformed into magnificent light art installations for the Festival. Visitors can learn about the stories behind these bridges and each installation while immersing in the spectacular works of art. The tour also includes visit to sites with historical significance to Singapore, including The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and Sir Stamford Raffles Landing Site along the Singapore River. Stories of these locations, their contributions to the development of Singapore, and artists’ inspirations for those that host the Festival’s light art installations, will be shared. Capping off the experience is Bridges of Time, an immersive multimedia show presented in the Singapore River for the very first time as part of i Light Singapore that creates a breathtaking ancient landscape against the contemporary skyline. Participants will be guided through the timeless journey of travellers from yesterday, today and tomorrow, as they discover and rediscover Singapore through the centuries. Visitors who prefer to explore the Festival at their own leisure, be it in one night or over several trips, can download the tour on mobile app, VoiceMap. With the app, they can access an offline Festival map that indicates the locations of the light art installations and programming hubs for easy navigation. Visitors can listen to an audio explanation of each installation and the respective artists that are automatically activated through GPS when they are near each artwork. The audio tour is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
