These past 12 years have been an extraordinary journey that has granted me 3 the privilege and opportunity to serve the people. Public service and civic engagement are 4 hallmarks of a healthy and resilient representative democracy, and I've done my best to 5 walk the talk. I've worked hard to unite folks and find common ground to affect policies 6 that achieve systemic change in order to make meaningful differences in our communities 7 and in the lives of individuals and families. 8 9 I am grateful to have worked side by side with you and our non-partisan team members, as 10 well as the entire advocacy and political community - inside and outside the Capitol. 11 Legislative Council and Legal Services staff members are dedicated, brilliant, hard 12 working and very nice professionals - across the board. They exemplify - to the highest 13 degree - public servants who care that we do our jobs well and serve the people of 14 Colorado effectively. Honestly, I am going to miss you all, and I have a lot of mixed 15 emotions; guess I will focus on gratitude. 16 17 The Larimer County Democratic Vacancy Committee for SD-14 will convene after you 18 receive this letter and notices go out to committee members who will be charged with 19 selecting my replacement according to rules and state laws. and always with an eye 20 towards transparency and accountability. My goal is to have a qualified individual in place 21 on January 4, 2019 - opening day of the First Regular Session of the 72nd General 22 Assembly who will work hard and represent all the people of SD-14 with fairness, 23 honesty and integrity.
