She is now third the ACC in total rebounds with 7.7 per game and second in defensive rebounds, 5.59. She ranked in the top 10 in scoring (4th), field goal percentage (5th) and blocks (12th). Needed More The Wolfpack finished the regular season 0-6 and 0-3 in ACC action when it did score more than 59 points. In each of the Pack’s eight ACC wins, it scored more than 60 points, including five games above the 70 mark. The most points scored in ACC play was 79 in the 79-64 win at Florida State. The most in a loss was 66 against Wake Forest at home. The Deacs won with a small margin of 70-66. That Would Help NC State allowed No. 2/3 Duke to score 90 points, which was jus the second such occurance this season, allowed by the Pack. The other was against Indiana, a game in which the Pack also scored 93 points to win. The 90 point total by Duke was the most points allowed in an ACC game by the Pack this season and the margin of victory, 33, was the most given up by the Pack all-time against Duke. The Blue Devils hit 55.6 percent of their shots, the most since the Pack allowed No. 24 Oregon shoot 56.9 percent from the floor back on Nov. 29. Guard Play The Wolfpack back line committed just one turnover against Clemson on Feb. 12 and finished the game with 20 assists. Bell, Rivers and Dickens, who is at times in the two-spot, are among the team’s top five scorers, posting 630 points, 31.6 percent of the scoring output. They also have accounted for 241 assists, which is just under 50 percent (48.7) of the team’s total output. Billie What? Sophomore Billie McDowell waited on the bench at Wake Forest, patiently, for the entire first half. Her number was called in the sec- ond half and she responded. The shooting guard went 3-of-3 from the three-point line, had a team-high seven rebounds, two assists, one , one steal and just one turnover in 13 minutes. Against Clemson she played seven minutes, went 3-for-6, had three boards and one steal. She posted a career-high four steals when she entered the game at Virginia. Sorry to Say NC State did something it had never done before, go 0-5 to start the ACC season. In the past 29 seasons the Wolfpack has never lost its first four ACC games and did so with the loss at Clemson. The Pack had gone 0-3 in two seasons, including 1987-88 and 1993-94. Bell Can Hit Kendra Bell may be a point guard, but she can hit the three. She has hit 12-of-26 attempts since the Florida State game, which includes a perfect 2-of-2 performance. The point guard went 2-3 against Wake Forest and 1-2 against Duke on March 1. Close, But Not Quite NC State was 0-4 when the score was within five points until the Pack earned wins at Wake Forest, and Virginia and at home versus Georgia Tech. The recent four point victories over Wake Forest and Georgia Tech have helped to change that. The Pack earned a one-point defeat to UNC, 58-57. NC State defeated Virginia by five on Feb. 15. The four-point loss to Virginia and Wake Forest were two of the Pack’s closest losses this season. NC State’s other close loss came at Oregon (5). Block Party Behind the blocking abilities of Marquetta Dickens, Kaayla Chones, Alvine Mendeng and Keisha Brown, NC State has been throwing down shot attempts from many opponents this season. The quartet has tallied 44 blocks this season. Chones tabbed 24 and Mendeng stopped 18 while Brown has 11 and Dickens hangs with 10. Mendeng swatted three versus Georgia Tech, which was a career-high. Recognize Reaves Reaves scored her first back-to-back double figure games against GT and Duke. Her 11 points in the win over Georgia Tech was a new career-high. Her four offensive rebounds against the No. 2 Duke was a game-high. Her six total rebounds at Duke to go along with a 5-of-6 performance from the floor was all done in 11 minutes as a reserve. For the weekend, the center shot 67 percent on 10-of-15 (21 points), grabbed 14 boards, including six offensive and had two blocked shots. NCAA- Here We Come Behind the marksmanship of Rivers, Bell and Dickens, NC State has put itself in the NCAAstats. The team is ranked 21st with an average of 17.1 apg. The Duke Blue Devils are ranked first among the NCAA D-I schools with 20.3 per game. Book it Brown Freshman Keisha Brown has tallied 29 steals in her first season with the Pack. That number ties her for 13th on the Freshman top 15 in the steals category and is second on the team. Reaching the Ranked NC State has taken on eight ranked teams in 29 games, including the No. 1 team in the nation with UConn on Dec. 29. The squad just hosted the No. 13 UNC Tar Heels before traveling to see the No. 12 Heels in Chapel Hill. NC State has also challenged the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils on Jan. 30 in Durham. Also, one of the Pack’s former opponents, the Baylor Bears sat in the top 25 in the 14th spot. Miscellaneous Team I n f o r m a t i o n
