Keyboard Shortcuts in Symphony Workflows

 This class is based upon keyboard shortcuts that can be utilized via Symphony WorkFlows.

 General keyboard shortcuts and the keyboard shortcuts for the most commonly utilized circulation functions will be covered in this class. If time permits, additional keyboard shortcuts for circulation will be covered.

 These shortcuts are based upon the standard circulation toolbar. If a custom toolbar is being utilized then the shortcuts will be based upon the original toolbar that was modified to create the custom toolbar.

General Keyboard Shortcuts

 ALT + Letter – Hitting the plus the letter that is underlined in the function you wish to execute is the same as clicking on the button for the function.

 ALT + F – Displays the File drop down menu

 ALT + E – Displays the Edit drop down menu

 ALT + P – Displays the Preference drop down menu

 ALT + T – Displays the Tools drop down menu

 ALT + D – Displays the Window drop down menu

 ALT + H – Displays the Help drop down menu

 Up and Down – Up and down arrows can be utilized to move through and select a function from a drop down menu.

 Letter – When a drop down menu is displayed, hitting the letter that is underlined in the function you wish to execute is the same as clicking on the button for the function.

 Shift and Letter – When a drop down menu is displayed hitting shift plus the letter that is underlined in the function you wish to execute is the same as clicking on the button for the function.

 For example, if the File drop down menu was displayed and you hit Shift + X, Symphony Workflows will ask you if you wish to exit the client.

 ESC – Takes you out of a pull down menu command.

 Tab Key

 Lets you move between active fields from left to right.

 The Tab key also allows you to tab to a check box or radio button – hit the when the check box or radio button is selected and you will be able to select or unselect those options.

 The Tab key can be utilized to tab to a gadget – once the gadget is selected hit the and it will open.

 Shift and Tab Key – Lets you move between active, input fields from right to left

 Enter Key – If you have several buttons at the bottom of the screen, hitting the enter key is the same as selecting the button on the far left.

 Page Up – Lets you scroll up (as long as screen is “activated”)

 Page Down – Let you scroll down (as long as screen is “activated”)

 CTRL and F4 – Close out an open wizard

 ALT and – Close out an open wizard

 Cut – After highlighting the information that will be cut hit CTRL and X.

 Copy – After highlighting the information that will be copied, hit CTRL and C.

 Paste – Hit CTRL and V to paste the information that was cut or copied.

 F10 – Highlights File on menubar

When you have to use the mouse:

 Using a helper

 Raised boxes (like Display Options in Bills tab or showing last patron)

 Glossaries

 Moving between two open windows in Symphony WorkFlows
