5 BACK TO TOP NTI 2010 TECHNICAL CLASSES

Technical Course cancellations have now been made. If you or one of your Instructors were registered for a technical class that was cancelled, you should have received an e-mail advising you of the cancellation. In a few instances, we cancelled only one session of a 100 Level course (either AM or PM). For example, T129 – Overcurrent Protection - Codes & Practices 3, How to Teach NJATC did not meet the minimum enrollment for the AM session; however, the PM session had 13 enrolled. Therefore, the PM session will take place and the AM session has been cancelled. For your convenience, a list of Technical Courses that were cancelled is listed. Please review the list to ensure your class is still scheduled. IF you need an additional course because the course you selected was cancelled, please select the new course you would like to enroll in. To view a current listing of available classes, please visit the NTI website by clicking, http:// nti.njatc.org/training/tcourse.aspx. When you know the class you wish to enroll in, please email Tim Strickland at tims@njatc. org or Melissa Parsly at [email protected] along with your name, your program number, the class code and course name that your are interested in, as well as a contact phone number in the event we need to speak with you. Melissa or Tim will make the necessary changes to ensure you are placed in the class you have selected.

B C NTI

Before attending NTI this summer, there are several tasks that you will need to complete. Go to the NTI “I Group” website at http://nti.njatc.org/igroup/igroup.aspx. Be sure to click on the link that corresponds with the “I Group” Year you will be attending at NTI. In order to keep yourself organized, the NJATC has created a Pre-NTI Checklist for you to print out. You can do this now by clicking on the Pre-NTI Checklist link. Completion of each of the tasks should take only a few hours and you can work on the tasks according to your own schedule. In other words, if you can’t complete all of the tasks now, just use the checklist to record tasks that you have accomplished and do your work over sev- eral sessions. All of the tasks are important, so be sure to plan enough time to get them all done before you leave for NTI. Some of the items will need to be printed out and brought with you to NTI, so you may want to start compiling a file to bring with you. It is suggested that you do the tasks in the order that they are presented on the checklist.

All “I Group” participants, except 2010 First Year “I Group” attendees, were given Portfolio assignments and should have been working on these assignments throughout the year. NTI 2010 is quickly approaching and all “I Group” participants are required to bring their Portfolio notebooks along with their completed assignments to NTI this year. On Sunday, August 1st at 3:00 pm. you will be discussing your Portfolio assignments with your “I Group” peers and Professor during class time. All 2010 First Year Participants will be introduced to the Port- folio on Sunday at 3:00 pm. First Year Participants DO NOT have any assignments that need to be completed before arriving at NTI. All Portfolio assignments and templates can be downloaded from the NTI website at http://nti.njatc.org/igroup/iport.aspx. Be sure to complete the assignments from the “I Group” Year that you attended in 2009.

We are asking ALL Training Directors to assist the NJATC in evaluating your Instructors with their Portfolio. Please take time to sit down with your Instructors to make sure that they are completing the assignments that were given to them at NTI. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the Portfolio and the assignments that were given to your Instructors before you meet with them. You may have some ideas that would benefit your Instructors and their Portfolios. Also, please remind each returning Instructor to bring their Portfolio to NTI in Ann Arbor, MI. T R

MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 2010 | 6 –10 PM ON MAIN STREET, ANN ARBOR These days, it’s hard enough to pay for basic needs like groceries, utilities, and a mortgage. Your union helps it’s members, but if you were sick or hurt and had unexpected health care expenses, you may need additional help. That’s why there’s never been a better time to have Aflac. # Major medical pays for doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions. Aflac is insurance for daily living. It pays cash benefits directly to you, unless otherwise assigned, to help with daily expenses due to an illness or accident. & Aflac has several products that have been designed with unions in mind, including accident, short-term disability, and lump sum critical illness. "

You can use your Aflac benefits check to help pay for groceries, child care, rent ... it’s totally up to you. $ Yourur AAflac benefits check helps you pay for the many out-of-pocket expenses you incur when you are sick or hurt — like the cost of transportation to and from medical facilities, parking, and additional child-care expenses. % ! When you have an Aflac policy — it’s yours. You own it. Even if you change jobs or retire, you can take your Aflac policy with you, with no increase in premiums.
